Charlie told me they have found away transfer information electronically between atoms. Basically early tech, comparable to startrek transport tech. I am going to have to get a link and do some research on it of courase. What ya think?

I believe scientists in Demark have successfully transported a photon from one side of a room to another.

yes they have. But you cannot transfer data from atom to atom.

But they are studying it though and coming close.

CLOSE!!! They are relative galaxies away! Transfering the data is a sinch, it reading the data, thats the hard bit. There are two almost impossible things in star trek:
1. The inertial dampening field
2. The heizenburg compensator
Everything else is entirely probable

maybe you werent paying attention there is no possible way to send data from atom to atom. Get it? they are made up of protons electrons newtrons and quarks. IT JUST CANT BE DONE!

Thats cool. There are lots of technologys we have these days that are in the experimental stages cuz startrek came up with the idea

Yes there is. Data is just information stored. How can you store information in an atom? Well, if electrons are spinning clockwise, then its 1, spinning anti-clockwise a zero. Tada! Binary information!

They already HAVE done it! I think it's called "quantum entanglement" or something. They have successfully stored info in a photon and read it again.

One thing that i think is a bit sad though, is that if they had some technology in real life which was in startrek before it was invented. Then they can't call it by the startrek name cuz of copy right etc.
So a transporter would probably somat like a two way movement device

A photon isn't an atom.
and btw, there are no "newtrons" in atoms .

How can they possible store information in a photon? I thought a photon was the smallest particle... You can't store anything in something that is smallest? Can you? I'm lost...

that is the dumbest thing ive ever heard. You cant control the rotation of electrons anymore that you can control the rotation of the son. and its counter-clockwise. not anit-clockwise. And where the heck did you come up with that anyway?

no it cant be done. i wont be convinced otherwise until i see some hard evidence

I know! I didn't mistake, i meant to say photon.

Here's your hard evidence: http://www.nature.com/nsu/040308/040308-8.html. Someone on another forum said they are using the same technology for making "transporters".

A photon isn't "the smallest particle", it is a particle of light. (light consists of particles)

A photon isn't a particle, it is simply 1 complete wave of energy. It's not a particle in the sense that a proton, electron, atom etc. are particles. It's different.

Ah, then you might wish to explain why the speed of light has decreased over the many many years.
This is the first sign that einstein's theory isn't correct as a whole. IE. if the lightspeed isn't constant, then there is a problem with his theory.
More can be read here.
Secondly, observations of light (photon's) have shown indications of Inertia. Which is a typical behaviour of mass. Therefore a conclusion can be drawn that photons have mass.
All this theory is still in its babyshoes, therefore NOTHING is impossible. Improbable maybe, but impossible, no!
Never forget:
A true scientist is always considering the flaws in the theories he/she uses. He/she never accepts the given.

Please go read a physics book!
It's assumed that light consists of waves AND particles. These particles are called photons.

As far as i know, the auzzies encoded some data into a laser stream, then transported it across a lab... not sure how true this is though
OFF TOPIC:

and over here, It is Anti-Clockwise, not Counter-Clockwise, so chew on that.
