when you say god you mean the bible which was written by men
the bible says a lot of things of wrong which most people have since realised are utter nonsense:
Shellfish are an abomination
Pork is unclean
People with defective sight should not approach the altar of god
you should have no contact with menstruating women
people who work on the sabbath should be put to death and so forth.
and what you really mean when you say it's "wrong" is that according to your interpretation of your particular brand of religion it's "wrong". That doesn't mean you have the right to tell people how to live their lives when what they're doing harms no one, and in fact makes them happy. If I actually believed in a god, I would like to think that they would be far more concerned with how we treat each other rather than who we fall in love with. But thats my opinion

I want to be very clear.
WE ARE NOT HAVING THIS DEBATE AGAIN.
If you need to, dig up an old topic, but we're not going to fight about this issue over and over and over again.

w00t! *sings* Oh CANADA, land that I looooooooooooooove! *whistles a happy tune* This is...one small step for gay rights...one...giant leap for mankind!
Well, I think they made a good decision...no matter what, I think it's wrong for the church to have the monopoly on marriage, in any situation. My mother got married in a courthouse, not in a church...GO MOM! w00t!
If I recall correctly, I started a topic on this subject, so you can all go fight in that thread, not this one...

I would pretty much agree with that EXCEPT on gay marriage. There are reasons to stop that.

oh, of course there are. why are you even getting into the politics of another country? Your not even canidian.
people should be more concerned about the politics of their own country rather than that of another.
I don't want to sound mean but I think people should worry about things in their own country rather than what some other country does.

I debate the American politics on STV all the time (because most of the time the articles here are about the United States . . . go figure. . .).
Canadian politics aren't as funny as your American politics. I mean, our leaders are much more dynamic and interesting than yours because we've got so many, but really, the actual Parliamentary process of passing legislation is mundane compared to what you Americans do.

So what if God says that gay marriage isn't right. So what if he created a man and a woman (oh, and they weren't real, ask any priest, its just a story ) Our nations aren't ruled by GOD and what GOD says.

Don't presume to tell me that what God says is not important. Its a little deeper then him creating a man and a woman, but I wouldn't expect you to know anything about it.

They were real to many people. No real Priest would say its just a story. It is believed to be our(Catholics) beginning. Just becase you're intolerant, doesn't mean that it isn't. Your word means nothing. Especially when you make posts like that. You lose all credibility. This is the ONLY reason I don't support gay marriage, because of CERTAIN Gay people and their "supporters" attacking my Religion.

Ah, yes. Let the entire group suffer because a few of the group are being troublemakers. School discipline, I know it well.

Few? Few? I definitly would not say few. More like 85%.
I refuse to reward anyone for intolerance. I won't be tolerant to someone else's opinion, if they can't be tolerant of mine.

Wellp, Founder. I'm probably one of the most tolerant people you'll ever meet and I respect your opinion on the subject!
Jeff, I agree with you for the most part...sometimes it seems that we get so wrapped up in the affairs of other countries that we don't step back and take a proper look at what's happening where we live. Of course, we should care to some degree about what's going on in other places since they have an impact and sometimes a strong influence on our government policies. Some countries set new precedents, etc....
Anywho, I support same-sex marriage mainly because I have come to believe that "marriage" itself, in the strictest sense of the word, is a state-matter, a contract, not a religious matter. Holy matrimony within the church is an entirely different thing....

How did Founder attack anything? He merely stated his opinion, and gave reasons for it.
I did, however, see him attacked.

Yeah, and by stating his opinion, he can offend and attack people that are gay. Just like gay people can attack him with their opinion. They have also enough reasons, but that's not the point.
