I think you're a few hundred years late with your anger.....Other than the people in Rome or the Fundementalists, who obeys the Church without argument?

I know too many people who do.
And yes, it stems from the 1500s, and the creating of Lutheranism. Martin Luther was a badass.

You know, theyre the same faith. Only difference, Lutheranism doesnt prioritize access to heaven based on your job in life. Catholicism will allow for monks and priests to go ahead of others. Silliness IMO.
Anyways, theres also the sexual abuse thing. You knew I just had to throw it out there. And I know, its silly. Dont even bother yelling at me for it. Just had to mention.

Well priests and monks did give their lives in service of God. Of course they will be rewarded. Thats all its saying, geez.
Of course you did. Because a few bad priests represent the entire Religion. There are a few bad Muslim terrorist. Obviously Islam is evil. Athiest want to screw up our Pledge. So obviously they are un patriotic.

Well, I agree that the church has no right to say who you should or shouldn't vote for, or try to directly influence your vote. There's a seperation of church and state.
However, if you are a practicing Catholic, and follow Catholic law, you'd have no already that you shouldn't vote Democratic/for Kerry. That's just common sense. Should Catholics be offended because the church thinks they're stupid (as they've had to tell them not to vote for Kerry)? Who knows.

Well, I simply responded to your example.
I agree either way, the Catholic Church is pretty funny institution anyway you look at it. Don't kill, but lets murder a few thousand muslims... Free will, but hey you're going to jail for saying the earch is round... Pretty interesting.

Ya'll are right. *Turns to RM* They got us man. They exposed our hidden evils we did centuries ago. So obviously we're still evil to this day. Whites brutalized blacks in the past. So obviously they can't rectify their mistakes. Whites are evil too. I can't understand why I don't convert.

Well, of course people still aren't like that, sheesh, And I'm pretty sure they were already exposed,
But yeah, I go to a Catholic school, all that wonderful stuff. It's not as if I blame people for those things.

My "scarcasm" is not to spam. Im trying to prove a point. What IntrepidIsMe said is about Catholiscm of the past. BTW tons of Catholics died by Muslims too. Its not like they were the only ones to die. Catholiscm has done many bad things. They ignored the Holocaust. They didn't mind the slavery in the US. The institution in the past was TERRIBLE but its different now. Besides the instituion is a figurehead. It does not represent the faith.

Silly me thought the church/pope was the faith (part of it, at least), Yes, there was a war between Muslims and Catholics, however, the Muslims weren't against the Catholics in particular. Not to mention, they gave you the choice to convert to Hindu, pay a tax, or die; whereas the Catholics simply killed them.
As I said, nobody is blaming people today for what happend in the past. Or at least I'm not, just pointing it out.

He is part of the heirarchy of Catholiscm. We don't worship the Pope, despite popular belief. What? No. Catholics most certainly gave them the option to convert. Muslicm made peopel convert to Hinduism? I find that hard to believe. You would they would force them into Islam...
Oh I see you and Defiant are pointing out the bad sides of my Religion with no good sides. Got'cha.

Of course you people don't worship the pope, but he is part of the faith. Yes, Islam is what I meant, Hindu/Islam, they're close (here comes Sean). Anyway, we learned all of it last year in Global Studies (that whole convert/tax/die thing).
Yes, the bad parts are more interesting,

You are right. Exactly. I do not condone the actions of centuries ago. That was a different, darker time for us.

Whatever But it is nonetheless an appropriate response.

Actually, no, they are very different. And I believe they are, according to a Muslim at my school, opposing religions
Besides, Hinduism believes in multiple Gods, etc. Islam believes only in Allah.

No, my origional point was that the catholic church went in with intent to kill a particular group of people. However, the Muslims didn't, and gave people a choice either way. Sounds nicer to me, was simply pointing it out.

Oh. Well you're right about that. Im not even sure what the Crusades were about. I think trying to control the Jerusalam? Yeah Catholics started the War, but both sides were pretty bad. BTW The Catholics didn't go in to kill them. They did try for conversion. It more of a "Convert or die thing."

Yeah, the muslims invaded in general, and that land inculded Jerusalem. Then the church launched an attack against, which lead to 13 crusades (I think that's the number), none of which were succesful (in the end).

Heh. Apparently not. The Jewish people and the Muslim people control that now. We settled with Rome.
