PostWed Nov 10, 2004 10:08 pm    Star Trek: First Contact Error?

Hey, I noticed in First Contact that there may have been an error that I just wanted to clarify. How many decks are really on a sovereign class vessel? Because in the movie, when the borg take the ship, one lieutenant reports, "It looks like they control decks 26-11; but when they took deck 11, they just stopped!"
Later when Picard and Lily are almost to the borged out area of the ship, Lily asks,"How big is this thing anyway?" and Picard answers, "There are 24 decks--". So which is it? 24 or 26? Or are the last two decks for cargo or summat like that?

It's supposed to have 34 Decks but i think in the film Worf says "...Deck 36" so thats just stupid.

It got me confused at first also. Interesting though.

They did it with Enterprise too. They had a hull breach on G deck, but we never heard of G deck before!

I looked at an MSD of the Sovereign-Class, and I counted 24 decks.

I counted 24 also. Maybe Deck 24 is divided into 2 sub-decks? Just a thought.

That's one of the most common errors I hear being discussed. I think Sovereign class ships have 24 decks.

With that said, First Contact is still by far my favorite Star Trek movie.

It might be something to do with the fact that the Enterprise-E was different in all of the films it's in.

Or it could be like anti-matter pod storage or something silly like that.

I'd say its along the linse that extra decks ppl mention are for things that ppl do not need to have acces to even if you were boarding and taking over the ship

I managed to modify an image showing the "24" deck layout aboard a Sovereign-Class starship.

http://www.kuro-chan.net/deck-layout24.png

Be warned for dial-up users, it's about half a megabyte in size.

I think it is 24 because there was a mistake in Nemesis, something like Riker on Deck 29 and then falling a few decks.

I saw a cannon schematic, its like 24 decks. on some ships the very last deck or 2 is uninhabital, so not really counted
