What I really meant to say was and should have said, I think Children should not believe in Santa Clause cause he is not the real reason to celebrate Christmas. Yes, do believe in Santa Clause thanks to Charlie and grandparents. THey went against my wishes to teach them about Santa Clause. I am trying to convince them the truth. I told my oldest son the truth. He understands of course he is 11 now.
That what Ishould have said. Santa aint the reason. Its a lie. Jesus is the truth. But those who dont believe thats ok. Give cause you care anyway.
Now did I put that in a right way now? |
Yes, I understand now. You're more for prevention of Santa ever being believed in... ok. That's fine. BUt I still think that kids are going to find out on their own if they do in fact believe in him from the beginning. And if that it the case, if they do lead their childhood believing, then believe it or not, that's a fundamental base of the truth of childhood, and by a parent shattering that, it's almost like making the kid grow up.

Don't misunderstand what I am gonna say and don't think it is forceful cause It is not. In my view, I know in my heart that Jesus is real cause he is real. He is in my heart. That is all the evidence I need. You all can believe what you want cause that's the beauity of humanity, you are free.

I never sayed Jesus is a lie. Jesus might as well be true and might have existed and maybe even have stirred up some people about faith. But he didn't rise from the dead and didn't walk over water (when ever he did that).
Teh part where they put him in a cave and blocked it with a rock is probably true as well. But its more likely that Thieves stole his body then he actually stood up and moved the rock himself.

Other than the fact that Jesus was a Hebrew and a practicing Jewish Preacher, we have no Historic Proof of Anything about him..... but that's where the Key Word- FAITH comes in.

well, lionhead seems to be a see it and believe it kind of kid. but know what? I can't see the wind. But I know it exists because I can feel it and I can see the effects of it. That's how I'd describe my faith.

that's exactly what I was saying. I'm comparing the wind to God. To see the wind is the epitomy of faith

Ah yes... You can feel the wind and you can see how it's effecting stuff... like... how your hair moves... or the leaves in the tree... but you can't see or feel god.

Well, I have no problem saying Jesus existed. Who knows? I just down believe he was divine.
Scientific intsruments can measure the wind, and explain it. But not the idea of a "god." Not that that's the reason I don't believe. Just a factoid, which I'm sure everyone knew already.

But again, you should NOT celebrate it if you don't even aknowledge Jesus. That's just not right. That's the point of Christmas.

Christmas has definately become too commercial. I even admit to that... I spent too much on people this year.

Jesus did exist. Whether you believe he's divine or not, there is TOO MUCH PROOF to say that he didn't exist. Otherwise, you have a right to your beliefs, but if you don't even aknowledge him at all, again, don't celebrate it.

You can feel God. And hear God. And recieve gifts from God. Though, of course, I suppose most atheists would attribute that to a combination of insanity, false feelings, and coincidences. Oh well.
And the commercial...ness...of Christmas bothers me. I wish it were a pure holiday...but, of course, there aren't any of those left.

That's exactly what I said, wasn't it? And I'd say, that while you're all getting so hyped up about the true meaning of x-mas, you should give or recieve any gifts at all. As.... that's not what the true meaning of x-mas.

The giving of gifts is a form of kindness, and an act that was performed on the night Jesus was born. Giving things freely, I feel, is an important aspect of Christianity. I don't have any problem with the giving of gifts, while I DO have a problem with a number of other supposed "Traditions" that are nothing but distractions.

Mhmmm, But still, that isn't what x-mas is about! It's about the birth, not the gifts. If we're on that track, we should celebrate stables and barn animals everywhere!
What kind of traditions do you mean, exactly?

The Santa thing, mainly, bothers me. The Christmas tree bothers me, too, even though it's kind of fun, I must admit. And the absence of the religious celebration in most places, even in families that might believe in God.
And I know it's not about the gifts. In my church, gifts to others are a part of our lives. We give out free food and carwashes to random people, using our own money to do so. A lot of people ask why. It's because it's kind to others, and it is Christian to aid people. A common mantra is, "We're showing God's freely-given love in a tangible way."

Oh, I see. I agree that Santa is kinda silly, seeing as that kind of detracts from the whole "point" of x-mas (in your opinion, that is). I never believed in Santa, as he apparently had the same handwriting as my mother.
Tsk, I think everyone gives gifts, you don't have to be Christian. I always give money away to people who ask for it, give birthday presents, things like that. Comes with the territory of beign human, I suppose.
