He didn't (the class teacher who was teaching about it). The principal teacher didn't want him mentioning God to the class, and so he was the one that didn't want God mentioned.

That's bull. I'm against saying the pledge of allegience in schools because of, among other things, the reference to God, and I still say it's bull. As long as the guy wasn't preaching to his students, not letting him give out documents that make reference to God is idiotic.

I believe in the seperation of church and state, but I think the pledge and the constitution were just written in the wording of the time, and God was a big thing back then, and if you are too naive understand that, well then, good luck, you're going to need it.

Personally, I understand the use of God in the Constitution and Decleration of Independance. I understand that compleatly, and accept it. I don't want them to be re-written.
The pledge is a different story. The "Under God" bit was added in the 50's. It has not always been there, and I think it should be removed. People will adapt to it not being there. It doesn't degrade the meaning or anything. I just don't want to hear those words every morning.
I also don't get the idea of them forcing us to put the words "Under God" in our schools...But that's something different.
Back on topic.
I think that the Decleration and the Constitution are very vital parts of our country. They should not be exemt from our cirriculum. God was a part of the era, as people have said, it should stay in the documents. The idea should not be preached, but it should not be removed.

But then by that logic TM, since god was a big part of the era back in the 50's (main reason why "Under god" was added), Shouldn't we then leave the Pledge alone as well?
What I dont understand is why this is such a big problem for people. Most schools no longer make you say the pledge, you just stand while it's read.
I mean are people going to try and outlaw Christmas songs next because many have to do with Jesus Christ?
"Seperation of Church and State" only goes so far.

memyselfandI wrote: | This is totally outrageous. This is the constitution for crying out loud!!! If you don't belive it was created "under God" don't believe it! There too much other stuff in the constitution for someone to make a big deal about that. They may claim "free speech" but the same can be said for those of us Christians too, so really, it's a lose-lose situation, and pointless. |
EXACTLY. This is OUTRAGEOUS and HORRIBLE. It MUST be taught--it's our HISTORY. And if these Liberals can't take the fact that our country was founded on religious principals, like Thanksgiving is rooted in and God is not even SPOKEN about in many schools, that's just wrong.
I wish I could have responded to this sooner. There is NO justification for this.

You can't say it's all liberals though. I'm a Democrat, I just think this whole Fiasco is retarded.

It's just stupid to censor historical documents. I mean, why bother teaching history at all? How sad.
