Has anyone else read that ENT writers hope to include Shatner in some of the upcoming plotlines. I assume they would have to have him coming from the future....

I heard a rumour that Shatner had admitted Star Trek had lost its way in Enterprise and that he would love to join the show as a means of getting the franchise back to its original status. Can't remember where I read it and have no idea if it is true or not.

Shatner has commented on it in certain magazines. He did say that he had a plausible idea for bringing Kirk to the show. Let's hope he shares it.
Incidentally, in Star Trek Magazine (UK version), Shatner expressed an idea months back for a new Trek series. He said he had a great idea but was reluctant to share it because Paramount would own the idea. I would love to know what that idea is.

I've never heard that, but i'll keep my eye out for it now. Maybe Shatner will reveal his idea sometime soon anyway.

At a guess, I imagine he might become a recurring character throughout the season but not on board for every episode...

For once I hope it will be a time travel thing, because Captain Kirk is awesome.

Whilst I do think it would be a mistake to make Kirk a recurring character on the show, I think he is awesome too and would like to see him make a maximum of two appearances on ENT.
It'll be interesting to see how they do it.

Kirk is awesome, but he hasnt been Kirk in about 10 years. also, he's too old and fat to be a main character. If he joined in another ST series, i'd give up on all star trek for about 10 years.

Maybe a fun idea would be to do what DS9 did with Trials and Tribbleations and have Archer and crew go back to Kirk's time. They could do it like the DS9 episode thanks to the wonders of computers.
The only drawback is that it would be seen as ENT using ideas that have already been used. Perhaps it is best that ENT not do gimmicks and continute striking out on it's own. But still, a Kirk appearance would be good for a one-off...

Poor Shatner...He really wants to stay involved with Star Trek however he can...further movie deals are unlikely so appearing on ENT is all he has left.

^Well, everybody comes and goes. But Captain Kirk will never die. As long as there are Star Trek fans, Kirk is alive. It's like Elvis! He too is still walking among us right?
Anyway, I wouldn't like the idea of Kirk coming on an Enterprise episode. It would really break continuity.

James T. Kirk wasn't born when Archer and the rest of the Crew leave earth. Theres no way to include Kirk unless Daniles does something with the timeline.

We know that Kirk is born later. We are talking about using time travel or just have Shatener playing a new charecter, although I think they want him to play Kirk.

It's that thing from "Generations" where all your dreams come true, or something, Picard found Kirk there and convinced him to leave the Nexus and help him defeat Soran.

^Yeah that's right, Kirk left the Nexus and then died in the real world. So how could he be in another episode?

Involving the Nexus in a Kirk comeback on ENT sounds like a good idea to me.
The Nexus was outside the boundaries of time and space, the idea behind it was never fully explored in Generations.
To bring Kirk back for a one-off on ENT requires a plot that doesn't insult the viewers. Having the Nexus involved in a Kirk meets Archer plot sounds like the most logical option. I would rather have that than Kirk being sent back in time from the TOS era.
At the end of the day, my feelings on Kirk in an ENT episode are the same feelings I had for The Borg in Regeneration. Now, feel free to disagree but my view is that as long as it entertains me, then to hell with the timeline. As long as there is some logic, I don't care if it contradicts the future (or past) timelines.

Then whats the point of all the other series if the timeline doesnt matter? The way ENT is going, the timeline of TOS,TNG,DS9, and VOY are all being rewritten. Someone said that since the Borg went back in FC, the timeline is now different and everything we know is now different. I think thats a cheap excuse to allow the writers of ENT to do what they want. They dont want to go back and research anything. Everything we know and love to watch(TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY) will be as if none existed because ENT continues to change everything. You might not care but I would not like all of it to go away for the sake of entertainment. Thats just IMHO.....
