I have heard that one but it always amuses me.
I might be getting married myself soon if I can muster up the courage to propose. But I know for a fact that my ideal wife isn't a fan of white so I don't know what colour she'll go for.

White symbolizes innocence and virginity in Christianity. I dont know about you, but when you get Confirmed here you wear white robe-thingies.
So I think it's for the same reason brides wear white.

I wore white at mine but my dress was so long I tripped over it going back down the aisle with Charlie and everybody laughing including me.
