why is it okay to call the french "idiotic" but we'd get in trouble to call the US that?

Well, it's a matter of opinion.
I have joined (Bill O'Reilly's) boycott of all things French, just to say.
However, when was France IN TROUBLE for calling Americans "idiotic?"

Pffft, the US and Americans in general are criticized all of the time. And yes, I mean here in WN.

You know, that is true. Why can't that happen to the French fools?

Subtletly goes a long way, RM. Do I think the French are cowards? Yes. Do I have proof for this? Yes. Just ask, I'll share.

I know that they are cowards and that there is proof of it, but for the sake of the anti-anti-French, please share. Much obliged.

Here's a big one. WWII
And how about Jacques Chirac (sp) sending Saddam high level intelligence until the day the US attacked? Talk about aiding and abetting...

Are the French idiots? Not really.

Is the French president an idiot? In my opinion, yes.

I'm asking. Give me the dirt!

France wouldn't even fight to keep the Germans out of France!

Recent polls show that France is the least popular place for American tourists now. Amusing. And yeah, they are idiots. Not all of them, naturally, but yeah. A country that won't defend itself, calls for help, lets millions of foreigners die for them, and when those foreign countries ask for help, tuck tail and run? Cowards.

France is just playing the safest bet. They know their military hasn't been exactly the most useful, they learned that in WWII and places like Rwanda. They know their true might lies in the economic world and international organizations like the UN. They had oil contracts with Saddam Hussein's regime so they used their people's pacifistic tendencies to help them make a case that would insure they kept those contracts. It's not cowardice, it's just business.

Sure. Then if they aren't willing to help, they should shut up. And explain to me the French president sending SH top level intelligence right up to the start of the war.

Once again, a good point, Theresa.

I haven't seen any proof that Chirac sent Hussein Intelligence...I would be glad if you could provide me with some.

It was all over the news. Give me a break. If I say we are at war w/ Iraq, don't be so... pathetic as to ask for a source. It was everywhere.

Incredibly. It was all over the media. I remember the front page of the Boston Herald w/ his pic on it. Not nice headline. And it was just in the media again when Laura Bush went to France. The story broke not long after the war started.

Y'know calling the French 'cowards' because of the actions of their leader seems an over - generalization. Canada did not get involved in the current war, so it would seem that Canadians must be cowards too? I think that labelling all French cowards is negative stereotyping and that is a road that none of us should follow.

I disagree, and Canada has HARDLY ANY military, so it is somewhat understandable that they didn't participate.

Again I must disagree. Everyone on this board has seen anti - American sentiments from time to time, is it inconceivable that the majority of these are based on over - generalizations? I should think so. I have met many stupid people in my lifetime and am pleased to say that ignorance and stupidity is an international phenomenon.
