Adding to Lightning Boy:
Not only did the terrorist attacks, make just about every ecomnomic aspect of the U.S. plumet, you can not forget the Enron and WorldCom scandals. Finally, it is a fact, the econemy had out-grown itself, companies were huge, making huge profits, expanding like never before. It is impossible for an econemy to continue on like that. Everything in nature seems to follow the basic rule, what goes up, must come down (not necessarily in that sense, or literally, but you understand what I am saying. Sooner or later, it was necessary for this to happen. Now, we are getting past this, and are starting to grow again.

Chakotay,
you're a baffoon.
Seriously, you're *beep* riding on democratic rhetoric that's been awash since the beginning of time. Do you seriously think Bush has any real control over who can get employed and who doesn't? Did it ever occur to you that the market is regulated by consumer spending? Buying and selling stocks? Manufactures make money by selling a product. Corporations make money by selling services. Businesses need money to generate more money, hire more people, and give back to the investors.
First thing. Clinton left at the beginning of the dotcom collapse and backlash. How important was the dotcom/silicon valley area? So important infact that the Nasdaq lost nearly forty percent of its earnings it had peaked in 98-99. How accurate is the Nasdaq composite? 90% of stocks listed in the Nasdaq are tech related. Companies like Microsoft, Sun, etc, are listed in Nasdaq.
Second thing. Basic economics is a roller coaster. You have a few up years, you have a few down years. We're always going to have a cycle of ups and downs. When you put blame on a president or one person for it, you look like an ass. The Democrats do it because it caters to the people who don't have time to think about it. These are lower middle class to poor people who have nothing to look forward to, only empty promises by candidates and prominent citizens of the country. If you're going to dig up information about a president and his faults, at least do it in a non-biased site, like CNN.com or something.
Third thing. 9/11 was a horrible thing. Thankfully, it hasn't been repeated. But again, no one could've done anything different or better than Bush. 9/11 wasn't the actual cause of the massive job losses. But it was a catalyst in an already unstable market. Days before 9/11, speculators were already predicting a lower than usual third quarter report from many companies (some 60% of US companies use Jan. 1st as the beginning of the fiscal year) and job cuts were already in the making. 9/11 shook investors confidence and, like the Great Depression some 70 years before, the market came crashing down. Enron and Worldcom didn't help the matter, but they're hardly a big reason why the market took a crap like it did.
Fourth thing. Clinton was impeached. He wasn't removed from office.
Finally, if you're still going to harp about how Bush is an idiot, look in the mirror. At least he has a college degree and a bit more understanding about how things work over your comical ass.

A college degree? A president must surely know what he's doing with one of those right?
Right?

Out of that entire post the only thing you find to go after is the college degree? Huh. Must've been some great points made, then.

Right.
And whilst my simple question may be no match for your omnipresent political maelstrom of an argument, I still would like you to take your soapbox elsewhere.
Flexing your muscles infront of juveniles is a futile exercise, although I'm sure they'd love you on Question Time.

Political debate is allowed in WN. If you bring up a point, be prepared to have it dissected. I've made that clear for ages in here. C99 understood that when he posted here. Everyone is allowed to post their views. I don't care how old they are. If you feel you can defend your point, go for it. If you want everyone to agree with you, don't come in here.

There's a difference between disagreeing with someone, and insulting someone. In my opinion both you and Los have made personal attacks on C99.
Perhaps the source of the graph was insufficient to back up the argument, but it certainly didn't merit the responses from you two.

I know I deliberately degraded him. At least this way, he'll listen to what's being said instead of the typical in one ear and out the other.
Thank you Captain obvious.

So you admit you were rude? That's on odd way to get someone to listen to you. Call them names and then seem to want them to respect your opinion.

You should know, as should any American, and I've posted this before, that it takes two to three years before things from one administration are felt. So according to your graph, President Bush Sr. made the economy start getting better, and Clinton, amazingly, for awhile, stayed on the same track. Then suddenly something happens. Things start going wrong. Hmm... Now this year, other than the war and 9/11, is when we will really start to feel the changes made by G.W. If you know anything about the US Government, you know how incredibly slow it is. BTW, source for the graph, please? |
You found that offensive and degrading? Ooooookaaaaayyyy....

Again, everyone knows how WN works. The rules are, and have been, a little looser here. If you can't handle it, then by all means, don't enter this section of the forum. It's as easy as that.
I don't know why I, or anyone else should have to "dumb down" our replies. Talk about discrimination.

C99 was quite able to tell me himself if he was offended. And since I directed my remark at the graph, he had no reason to be. Please re read the first few posts in this topic where I asked that sources be of a legitimate nature. As a matter of fact, I've posted that throughout this section.
Unless a user has clearly asked you to be their advocate, I suggest you let them speak for themselves. You do them a disservice by assuming you have to think, and reply, on their behalf.

Well to be honest I don't think you've proven anything other than what we already knew. That the source for the graph wasn't an indifferent site, and some anti-bush thing.
And as for being C99's big brother, well it is a public forum, and it is my opinion, and it is not breaking the rules.
I also see no response to Los's admission.

Since when do I have to make PMs public? No one told me this. If you'd like to me to publicly say something to Los every time he steps out of line, remember, you'll be granted the same privilege.
I'm done playing "argue w/ Kyre all over the forum". If you'd like, go ahead and make a topic in CC, "what everyone else does wrong", and feel free to rant from there.
Back on topic.
