I'm of mixed feelings.

On its own, I prefer the new theme to the old one.

However, the new theme is totally inappropriate to the show this season. They're trying to make the show darker; so what do they do? Make the theme lighter and peppier.

next time you listen to the new theme song, listen to the new part that is added and only to that part, for the first 15 seconds it sounds like that original startrek style, and its a good one, i think they should stay with that.

I don't care what everybody else says-I like the theme. The old one was cool, and the new one is too. As for it being inappropriate for this season, I tend to disagree. Yes, the show has taken on a darker, more serious tone. However, the new upbeat theme (as well as the lyrics) are a reminder that even with all this going on, the human spirit cannot be hindered or broken ("no one's gonna bend or break me"), and that no matter how bleak the future may seem at the moment in Enterprise, there's always a ray of hope present, and that this is just another obstacle to be overcome.

I LOVED the theme music! That song RAWKS. I sing along to it everytime I watch enterprise... and then they go and, yes, BUTCHER it! Ugh, that rhythm is soooooo stupid for that song. I like the end guitar part, but that's it. Ugh ugh ugh they need to change it back, it was PERFECT the way it was before. Grrrrrrrrrrrr @ people who changed music

I think the theme is perfect for the show. It's a song about standing up and doing what you know is right, no matter who tries to stop you or crush you. It's about pushing on through criticism. It's about coming of age, and proving wrong all those who said you couldn't do it. Exactly what the crew of enterprise are doing.

It's been a long road, gettin from there to here
It's been a long time, but my time is finally near
I will see my dream come alive at last, I will touch the sky
And they're not gunna hold me down no more, no they're not gunna change my mind

Coz I've got faith, of the heart
Goin' where the heart will take me
I've got faith to believe, I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul, and no one's gunna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith, faith of the heart

Now tell me that's not appropriate for enterprise.

YOU CAN'T!!!!! Nyeah. Coz if u do ur lying.

I think it would be better if they changed the theme every season to reflect the theme of each season. That way, people who don't like the current theme won't have to tolerate it for the length of the entire series.

I think Babylon 5 did that and that worked pretty well...the music got better and better throughout the series IMO...

I liked the theme song, myself. It's rather uplifting. I'd rather they'd left it alone, but that's just me...

We need to protest and get them to change the song back to the way it was before. Paint signs and stand outside of their offices or whatever... haha

I like it the way it is now better than it way it was before. The end of it is better. However, I think that if they would switch it with the song that plays during the credits, which is more star trekkie, then everything would be perfect.

Gondor! Gondor, between the mountains and the sea
West wind blew there; the light upon the Silver Tree
Fell like bright rain in the gardens of the Kings of old
O proud walls! White towers! O winged crown and throne of gold...

The theme was to much on the emotional side before, now it's to musical and is not ST alike. Chosing, I will prefere the one before.

I think the theme needs to be darker.
Take "Shockwave, Part One" for example. At the end you got a sense of doom, that everything has been destroyed, yadda yadda, the "To Be Continued" flashes on-screen and then what do you get? The nice happy friendly theme playing away...for me that kinda got rid of the tension lol.

I noticed that in tonight's Channel 4 episode "The Seventh", the music seemed almost similar to Voyager's music in "Scorpion" but just rejigged a little. Not the theme itself but parts of the theme...like when archer, T'Pol and Mayweather are looking for the criminal guy...

thats exactly what it needs, to match the settings of the story. since the enterprise is in the expance (which is a dark place) they must have a dark theme song

TOTALLY!!! I went and downloaded the whole song and they have the nice pretty music that was more like the original theme and I was just thinking "Dang, that STUPID RHYTHM does NOT belong in this song!" The end guitar part is cool, but not worth the butchered majority of it! Ugh ugh ugh... whoever changed it is an idiot. The theme was PERFECT! I've always loved it... ugh. At least I have my mp3 of the song the way it SHOULD be... poo

I wasn't too keen on the theme originally but I liked the generic music in the episode...

...so I went out and bought the soundtrack lol.

The "Faith of the Heart" on the soundtrack is longer than the one on the series; I think it's a bit better as it changes a bit in the middle...I could almost like it lol

May I just ask WHY a lot of people have a problem with the theme?? I love it... I downloaded the MP3... I fell in love with that song the first time I heard it. And the introduction rocks too. I love all the different enterprises, and how they show how humanity has progressed and changed over the years... it also goes perfectly with the song and the MAIN theme of the show. To get out there, be the first to break the boundries, to truly go where no one has gone before. To prove everyone who thought you couldn't do it wrong. To finally say "I've waited long enough... I'm ready!" to push through everything that tries to hold you back and say... I AM TRIUMPHANT!

Yeah but (again I use the same example) at the end of Shockwave, they weren't triumphant and so the happy bouncy theme deflated alot of the tension.

It's like having a massive action film/disaster film which ends with the theme "I'm a little teapot short and stout"...or something like that...Yes I'm exagerating but only to prove my point...

I've always HATED THAT THEME! Don't get me wrong - it's not that I have anything against using a pop song, or that sci fi can only have John Williams type orchestral music with it. It's just that IT is such a lame, 80s-Bryan Ferry rip off. I never even noticed that they changed it this season, cause I always mute/fast foward.

It's a shame the song SUCKS, 'cause the visuals/graphics are outstanding.

Here's what you do to improve it. Take out your First Contact CD. Cue up song 12 to about 23 seconds in. As soon as the tease fades to black, hit play. Presto! New, improved opening for Enterprise!
