I was watching the Today Show and they made a huge deal out of some of those stupid books getting stolen who care if I came across one I would burn it they made it sound like it was freaking gold or something its like in a what if situtation if the president disapeared no one would care but if some books stop hell lets stop the earth and get everyone out there on it than the woman who created that stupid character is suing someone I heard on the news for 100 million because he gave her a bad review I say kill Harry Potter Kill Kill |
Suing for a bad review? I saw on the news that she is suing an American newspaper for publishing information from the book before it was released.

might as well read the books or watch the movies before voting, i'm betting theres some people who doesn't know anything about harry potter who voted, maybe just because there's a little war thing going on in this topic and they wanted to be on the winning side btw don't bother responding, it's boring listening to all that talk

Dont you think your being a bit cold, if you put aside your views about Wizards, broom stick and all that and actually *read* the book then you would understand why so many people like it. I must admit i didnt like the idea of Harry Potter i thought it was a childish version of The Lord of the Rings but i bought the first book the other day and started reading. Such a great writer JK Rowling is. Its just wonderfully written and now i love Harry Potter. She didnt sue someone for a bad review. Someone sold part of the book to the paper and revealed some of the info?? i think.

Yes...it gets old hearing about it OVER AND OVER. I mean-how many other authors are more talented than she? I'll name some: Tolkien, Eoin Colfer, Gary Blackwood...must I go on? I think not.

You cant judge a franchise without watching the movie or reading the book.

I agree. When the books were books and just books, it was fine. It was a nice story that introduced many children who would not read into the magical world of reading (Ok, so they probably won't read any good books in their lives, but now at least they can say they read a book). The first book was enjoyable, the second was ok, the third was brilliant and the fourth was a good story. The fifth was an abombanation and destroyed all my faith in the series. It was boring, mundane, confusing and bits of it were rather pointless. Why kill off such a good character, in such a confusing way? The whole chapter where they're supposed to be doing all this fighting and there's something about a prophesy etc. was utterly confusing. I will most probably not look forward to reading the next one.
I saw the first film and none of the others. They went so far from the plot of the first one, screwed up the characters, sets and everything else (why did Hagrid live in a stone hut in the movie? Couldn't the studio afford logs?) including the plot, which changed very much from the book plot. I have seen none of the other films, and quite frankly, I don't want too. When HP and the Goblet of Fire comes out as a movie it will be awful. They will have had to cut so much of the storyline out so that the movie is short enough for kids that it will basically be a synopsis of the book.
What's the point anymore? I've lost all faith in JK Rowling. She wrote best when she was a single parent struggling for survival instead of an overrated millionnairess. I feel sorry for the generation below me who will have grown up on these stories, instead of proper good children's books like The Chronicles of Narnia, The Edge Chronicles and anything by Robin Jarvis or Anthony Horowitz.

Never appealed to me, but I know that it brings pleasure to a lot of children. And I've seen quite a few adults reading it on the train as well.
