Correction: Anti matter is already being created in the US, although the production rate only provides enough to fuel a small light bulb for 1 hour in every year.
Read about anti matter at http://www.howstuffworks.com/
Note: If we are going to explore space beyond the mars->Jupiter belt, we are going to have to put aside our differences and unite as a world state. This is very unlikely, as there are many evil men in the world, bent on destroying life and creating major unrest.

What I want to know is: Will we ever be able to beam ourselves somewhere. Now that's impossible, right?

I can see transporter technology happening, though not a site-to-site transporter. Possibly a specialized chamber, in which the object is placed (I can't see us transporting humans when we first develop transporter technology)...

Good question. I would doubt it, but I chose 'Unsure'.

*Sigh* I'm too apathetic (lazy) to create a ST Signature Picture, thus using this one I made a while ago.

I think it'll be possible before most of us think, but, you know, I'm sort of an idealist when it comes to space travel. Transporter technology is more than likely to happen, but site-to-site would be a bit tricky.

Actually... I am thinking of inventing holotechnology. Not anytime soon, but I think I just *MIGHT*.

I voted yes, i mean, check out how far technology's gone so far. We've gone from throwing rocks and hitting each other with sticks to being able to wipe out all life on the planet, which we will NOT do by the way, (better not) but i still think we'll be able to do that. It is possible because if all these UFO sightings are real then that means other races have been able to do that, who knows where they came from, maybe they're some new type of borg probe?

I don't know how, but we are going to fly a starship soon.

I know we will, unless everyone goes crazy and starts killing one another or we all die from another astroid hit (that's what I believe killed the dinosaurs). *sarcastically* I'm sure if we all keep pollution up, then we'll be forced to figure out something . . .

At the moment they can transport electrons and other small particles but they have to destroy the original in the process. So they'd never do it with humans.

Definitely NOT in our lifetime, see how long it's taking to build the International Space Station? After that maybe something bigger, perhaps something on mars, taking even longer to build, so DEFINITELY NOT! AHH! I"M FREAKIN OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON! MY DOG WANTS OUT GTG! WHY AM I EXPOSING THIS INFORMATION TO YOU! AHH!

Very good question.
Now I'm new around here, and no doubt some of you will grow bored with my in depth discussions in the near future, but I find it impossible to answer questions with a simple "yes or no".
First of all we have to look at the course of human evolution so far and then try and project that into the future. Each decade, our technology advances 10 times as much as in the previous decade. That alone says a great deal about our potential to develope interstellar travel in the near future. Remember, anti-matter is only one form of propulsion. We have made great advances in the field of magnetic propulsion, and could use the gravitational forces of the universe to propel and maneuver a space ship. And there are other technologies being developed as well.
As far as us killing each other off, well, that's just a matter of faith. If you beleive in the bible, then you probably beleive that the world will come to an end in a horrible holocaust, pitting good against evil. Now, I beleive in God, but I also beleive that mankind has the capacity to overcome our differences, and that the world can and will come to a peaceful resolution. And yes, that's what it's going to take for us to accomplish this lofty goal.
Now let's touch on transporter technology for a sec. Bringing you up to date, scientists in Germany have successfully transported fruit and paper goods. They tried to transport a pen, but they found the empty casing lying in a pool of ink. The tranporter didn't understand how to put the ink into the pen. But it will, and probably very soon.
Yes, Interstellar travel is in man's future, and probably not as far off as most would think. I predict within the next 50 years, we will build our first FTL vessel, and on a personal note, they BETTER name it the Enterprise.
Barclay, out.

....So the story goes. Don't forget that in our recent history, science fiction becomes science fact.
Man is limited only by his own imagination. "We can and will achieve whatsoever our hearts desire" Samual Langhorne Clemens(Mark Twain)
This quote by one of the worlds greatest story tellers was one of Gene Roddenberry's most favorite, and the driving force behind many of his creations.

Hey that's cool !
Is there a website that explains what's happening and keeps the public up to date, that I can go to?

Any websites pertaining to this knowledge are highly restricted. Over the past several years, I have developed an online relationship with several highly respected minds in the field. As I'm sure you can see, these people are very tight-lipped about what is going on in their community. However, from time to time, One or more of them have shared tid-bits of information with me. Only the fact that I have an AS degree in Quantum Physics has permitted me access to this very small community of minds. Anyone who has at least some degree in a physical science can contact me at [email protected] and I would be happy to introduce you.
Have you ever been interested in subjects such as......
Quantum Physics...
Black and Light holes...
The Genesis Molecule(Referred to as the Omega Molecule on STV)(Yes...It really exists)...
or many other stellar theories, I can provide you with some very interresting information. Just let me know what your passion is and I will do my best to help you.
