I realize that Einstein was responsible for more than theoretical physics.

Yes I agree. Personally I want to hear more theories that the characters of the Treks had about this subject.

I read that that the killing your ansestors thing is called a Grandfather Paradox...I think i get the idea of it...like in one of the books, a old starfleet ship and one of the enterprises keep crashing into each other...again and again...uuntil enterprise blew something...

Most of those kinds of paradox are just referred to as Temperal Paradox, or just paradox.

Yes that's the technical name for the paradox....not very imaginative. LOL! The other temporal disturbance you are explaining is called a causality loop.

A temporal causality loop is a disoruption in the time/space continuum in which a localized fragmanet of time os repeated over and over again, ad infinitum. Minor variations are possible in successive iterations of the loop.

It's kind of similar to the Groundhog day idea, except that it lacks that whole "feel good" part where you have to get everything right....

If you travel to the past to kill your grandparents, would you never exist? And if so, who killed your grandparents if you never existed?

Yes Time travel is possible, The theory of Relativity proves it there is a site I give you that explains it COMPLETLY !! I was not sure about the subject until I read this. Now I am positive about it. I'll have to find it then I'll post it for you.

And as for travelling in the past to kill you grandparents, that creates a paradox. And travelling in the past has not been proven. Only forward time travel. I wrote a report on this "is time travel possible?", and recieved a 99 (only because I forgot to write a reflections page )

I found it !!!!

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/time/think.html

Just go to this and follow along. It explains the speed of light stuff to. It shows that time travel forward is possible. We just can't do it yet. Because we can't move fast enough (yet).

As was said (maybe I didn't mention it here, I'm too lazy to check). We don't have the ability. For us to travel to speed of light, we would have to have 0 mass. Light, 0 mass, infinite energy (or so I'm told). For us to move, for every part of mass, there is a part of energy. We would need to have 0 mass and infinite energy to achieve light speed.

According to the Quantum Machanics Many Worlds Theory, There is a reality for every single possibility that could exist.

So if you were to go kill your grandparents you would cause another reality to exist parallel to the one where your born, where you never existed, BUT there is another reality where you never killed them so you were born.

This can also be used to explain thet there is a reality where the only difference is one less grain of sand is on Earth, But another reality where the is no earth or people!

I suggest you read Michael Crictons TIMELINE it'll explain everything

OK that is not entirely true,

Einsteins Theory of Relativity proved that nothing could travel faster than light in a vacuum, So FTL (Faster than Light Propulsion) is not possible, according to this theory. No matter the mass or energy(Because the ToR also stated that all matter has infinate energay but limited mass). But there is a solution to this problem. Einsteins Theory also states that matter has a tendency to Warp Time and space, so that Time and Space are both not flat surfaces they are bumpy. So if Humans are able to somehow Warp Time and Space to a degree where they can travel through the time/space warp (FTL) then that FTL is a possiblity, The "Warp" theory also states that if Time and Space is Warped Time Dialation will not occur, meaning that time will pass equally for people at "Warp" and people on other planets.

*Note this is a real theory by real scientist not just Star Trek it is where they got the idea*

Oh yeah, I keep up with It, but

1) We disproved the Theory of Relativity, with a newer theory, although, I cannot remember it off of the top of my head. I'll research it later.

2) There is a bend in the space/time. It's gravity. Gravity bends it. I already posted about it, it's midnight, I'm lazy, I'll look for it tomorrow.

1) We have not disproved the Theory of Relativity, with a newer theory. All major scientist will tell you that.

2) There is a bend in the space/time. It's gravity. Gravity bends it. as I mentioned in my post

Meh, It's too late for me to be on here. So, you know, anything past 10 PM can't be really taken for Cannon from me. *passes out*

Damn!! It really stinks that humans don't grow to be at least 200 years old.. So I could experience timetravel.. Man. It would be my dream come true.
So, yes, I think it would be possible, but not just now.

We haven't disproved the theory of relativity, but we have modified it to account for antimatter, which was discovered after Einstien had died.

It's e=+/-mc^2

So basically we said that m can be either positive (matter) or negative (antimatter).

Gravity Probe B will begin conducting experiments to provide proof for Einstein's Theory of Relativity. I'm anxious for results.
