PostSat Mar 15, 2003 11:04 am    Freedom: How much are you willing to pay?

From what I read here, there's alot of people who love freedom, but aren't willing to sacrifice anything for it. Americans, do you remember what the colors in your flag stand for? Do you know how many died so you can live like you are today? Somehow, I doubt it. Freedom is a privilege, not a right.

What do you beleive in strongly enough that you would die for it?

Something we get for free we don't appreciate. We only realise afterwards, what it is we have lost.

Didn't the roman empire fall because of the same reasons?

Exactly. They became complacent in their freedom. They stopped watching their borders, started saying *war was never necessary, we are above such things, there has to be a diplomatic way out*. Not realizing that both sides needed to want peace.

Yes, they too ignored all the signs of the approaching armies. Who could beat Rome?

WWII

The Dutch thought Germany wouldn't invade Holland. We had a german prince, so why would they? And they too didn't bother for the army to be raised.

Also WWII

The French needed more proof of a German invasion. German tanks rolling down the street were finally enough proof, but much too late.

The U.S. was the ignorant one of that end of the deal... We thought the French were friends, we were wrong.

I love Freedom. I love Ameirca, and i'll be damned if I ever give it up without a fight!

"LightningBoy - Proud member of the American militia."
If time comes we ever get invaded. I'll be walking the street with my sidearm, and I'll be ready to die. Even though I know I won't lose, because I'll have every faithful American behind me, and we the people of America are invincible as a united force.

Treasonists and Traitors like Sean Penn, Barbara Streisand, and Jesse Jackson would soon go into hiding in their lap of luxury than fight for anything.

If someone gave you the choice. You die, or we kill your parents. It's up to you. Do you not even love them enough to die for them?

And life w/out freedom is no life at all, IMO.

If someone asked me that there'd be about a 70/30 chance that I'd tell them to kill me.

Today, my Mother and I stopped to get some sandwiches for lunch. While we were sitting outside, a bus full of soldiers pulled up. I made her stay so I could watch them, you know, men in uniform, So we're sitting there watching, and I suddenly realized what was going on. All of these guys were being deployed, and were just stopping for lunch for their long ride ahead. You sit there, and look at these men, and realize that they do beleive there are some things worth dying for. They are on their way to fight for me. For every American. Do you realize how humbling that is? I am so thankful that there are people who do beleive that there are some things worth fighting, even dying for.

You won't be so quick to say war if your drafted. War isn't the point. War can be a necessity, but isn't something we should want.

As most of you already know, I'm willing to die anyway

Yeah, I'd die for freedom... better that than because I can't cope

Ben Franklin said 'Those who would sacrifice freedom for safety deserves neither...'

I agree.

Explain to me why they are treasonous.

^Yeah, I'd aspire to quote Hitler, too.

Good thing that there are others willing to die for your freedom.

If your governement approved conscription would you people still be saying what you are? I mean think about it, hard, you are forced to leave everything here and probobly go and die. For your country and for freedom yes but would you be willing to give up everything?

Personally I think war is defiantly not the answer but we also can't sit here and do nothing. I'm kind of on the fence of what to do. If I was made to go and fight in a war, this war, which is highly doubtful, of course I would be scared crapless but I would go knowing that God is with me and my family and that I am fighting for a cause.
