PostSun Jan 26, 2003 5:50 pm    Advice for those who think they can't write

I've been amazed at how many ppl say that they can't write here: I just wanted to offer some advice as a writer.

All that you need to do to write a good story is to immerse yourself in the environment you're writing about. If you're writing about events that take place in a certain location, imagine it in your mind. Then put the people you're writing baout in that location. Wiht something like a TV show it's no problem, b/c the characters have already been fleshed out for you. Then you simply sit back, close your eyes, and watch as the scene unfolds in back of your eyes. When you're satisfied that your mind has created a realistic scene, you simply sit down and let your ideas flow. As long as you can imagine, you can write a good story. All you have to do is make sure you stick to the characters' personalities and you're golden.

Just thought I'd offer some words of encouragement. Hope to see all of you posting your imaginings!

Sincerely, Dana Katherine Scully

You can't tell if you can't write unless you try.

Precisely Ziona: everyone should try and keep trying. Eventually something good will some of it.

When I'm going to write things down, I usually come up with so much good things to write, that I've forgotten the end by the timel I'm done with the beginning...

Yeah, and you learn new things along the way... The best imo, is that you get to experience different things, even if you're making them up yourself.
It's like daydreaming; only you put it on paper while dreaming it up.

he he. My English teacher this year is the head of the department. She's brutal!!! My analytical writing is going to get so much better, but she's just miserably picky. Oy! It's depressing.

You thinks that's depressing? My enlgish teacher found a copy of my story, all of them (One, My J/C, and Renegade). She pulled me aside and said she thinks i'd better focus more of my energies on my school work instead of my stories.......even though my average is a 94! She called mom, mom said no more stories, mom took away computer, me get on school computer and write anyway. Teacher find out.........she tells me too enter essay contest.

So what I need help with is an esssay. TEacher say If I do well she'll tell my mom that my writing in encouraging.

Do you think they'd except an essay on Star Trek? J/k. Just, topic ideas would be very nice..........(hint, hint)

Aww, that's so sad..... To me, my works in any language has improved drastically just thanks to my fanfic writing.

For topic ideas: Choose a frame for the story (ex. summer, early 1900's, children playing, children pushed out of friendship)...
Ok, that's not really an idea. Just a tip...

That's horrible! My English teachers have always been very encouraging w/my fanfic.

Hmm let's see essay topics.....well what kind of essay is it? Is it a personal essay or an analytical one?

I have no intentions showing my fics to any teacher... not that they would know what it was about anyway..

Private school.... I'm in the only school within miles, and the teachers are good, however a lot of the students rather sleep than pay any interest at all...

How old's that teacher/friend?
