PostSat Oct 09, 2004 2:36 am    Gallup is NOT an equal and fair polling site

The leader of gallup is a major right wing religious right conservative. Hes even been quoted as saying hes using his site to promote god. What do you think he would do when he hears Bush say god bless? Put the pollin favor of him of course.

GALLUP IS BIASED ALL TO HELL.

The things you learn in English class! (yes, I researched it myself too)

Of course you don't like it. It supports Republicans. I bet you didn't complain this much when Farenheit 9/11 came out.........

Well if you can hate it. I can love it.

Excellent points, both of you. This would confirm my suspicions of Gallup. Defiant, do you have an actual research source that you can cite?

Hmm... Well looks like we have a site that rivals the very much disliked Moveon.org.

and just a note, I hated Farenheit 9/11. I saw it as the bunch of BS it was. though it tried to make some good points.

http://christianparty.net/gallup.htm

Theyre simply way off the scales on everything, and completely biased.

*ahem*

Gallup's poll was in favor of Kerry having won the last presidential debate. (Bush 45%, Kerry 47%) Again, I'm having a problem seeing the real impact of ONE polling organization. It's the trend of many that's worth looking at. *sighs* Ah, well.

Exalya: No trouble. It doesn't have much impact. My only concern with it is that RM was playing it off as a trusted and unbiased polling agency. It is, apparently, not. What is interesting to me is the way in which it supposedly is biased. I would very much like to have a source other than christianparty.net.

Alright. I know ALL about that, and the fact is that Gallup Jr. is NO LONGER INCHARGE OF THE COMPANY! O'Reilly, I believe, debunked that in an interview with a Gallup representative.

I disagree. Gallup does NOT support Republicans! It is FAIR.

1. Perhaps it is SLIGHTLY biased, although I doubt it.
2. I believe in trends, but if Gallup or Zogby has a HUGE lead, then I trust it fully.

Well, other sources are available...

And your point is invalid RM. Gallup has always showed democrats as appx. 5% over, and repubs as appx. 3.5% below. That was proven too.

I do not intend to be a part of this debate any longer. I feel that I have enough data (or rather, enough of a lack of it) to make my decision.

All polls, Gallup or otherwise are all biased in one way or another. They are made to to skew the results to show what they are trying to prove. Well, at least that has been my expirences with them, and also the research that I have seen on them. Not surprising that Gallup would be different.

Safe journeys,...

The point here is that Gallup used to be respected, and that RM is saying it is the most fair and unbiased poll system out there, and he couldnt be farther from the truth.

No, that IS the truth. And let me make this clear, something that I've said from the beginning: Polls do NOT show much. I don't trust them too much. However, when Gallup or Zogby have something, then they are CLOSER to the truth--ESPECIALLY when one candidate has a 13-point lead.

I know that polls mean nothing. The only thing that counts is the final tally of the votes. But if you are to rely on a polling system, Gallup is NOT the one. They are biased all to hell, and they misrepresent data on a regular basis. That is why they should not be trusted. The first part of argument is credibility, in which Gallup has none.

I agree more and more with you after talking with my Republican contact.
I discovered:
A. Zogby is not to be trusted, primarily because it is INTERNET.
B. Gallup, if anything, is LIBERAL biased.

Ooh, a republican contact? Like an informant? Do tell...

Yes, and with liberal bias, comes the illusion that they are winning, which makes the repubs work even harder to get more votes. And it also gives the democrats the illusion of winning, so they take it easy a little...

Zogby is probably the most accurate.

Well, a person involved in the Republican party. I've gone to all the Republican events that I've gone to with him, and so he knows much and is very involved--but not quite an informant.
And I'm not so sure about that. However, I disagree that Zogby is that trustworthy, as I've discovered that it's an Internet poll and yada yada yada. Still, it's somewhat trustworthy, and although Gallup is slightly Liberal biased, I think it's the most accurate.

It is the farthest from the most accurate you can get. It is completely faked from proven sources and from results of ballot measures and major issues.
