No...it is clearly about the media for the most part...some people just happen to twist it into some kind of liberal conspiracy which it is not. It is a soooooooooooong for goodness sakes. Be glad that we have the freedom to listen to it and have it played on the radio. Certain people just need to get over it.

I do NOT see that. Yes, it "says" it, but I don't see it--and don't you think that I would be LEAD the fight for this song because the media is so HORRIBLE and LIBERAL these days? Huh?
And I don't give a damn about the song's beat when it has wrong lyrics. Then you could make the same damn arguement if you happened to think the songs of the ba****ds Ludicrous and Eminem if you happened to like their music.

When people asked me for freedom fries, I refused to serve them. That pissed me off. Its hateful toward french people, no matter how you look at it.

MY GOSH! Do you see how HORRIBLE France has acted towards us! Most of them hate us! Don't give me this "hateful toward french people" crap! Come on! Have you seen what they do to us? Boycotting them (like I am) and calling them Freedom Fries (which I actually don't do just because) is GOOD. It's FINE!

Well well well....... You hate it when people are hatefull towards american, but the second they talking about being hatefull to France, you jump on it.... You can't have it both ways RM.

You're arguing that it's not alright to make fun of America, but it is ok to make fun of France. That's low.......

Alright, that is a valid point.
A) I don't think that calling something Freedom Fries and boycotting France is hateful
B) Of course I don't like the BASHING and HATE of my country
C) We are not making--nor do we have a song--bashing France. No one does.
D) Boycott the US. If you are an American citizen, leave the US. Just don't BASH America. And change the name of an American food if you feel like it. Like American Cheese to Freedom Cheese. That's not hate. It's wrong when there is no reason for it, but in cases like France, who has ATTACKED us and shown their INTENSE dislike towards us, such things are valid. If we do what France did to us, then they have every right to do the same, but that won't happen.

A) Yes it is. It's a subtle attack on France.
B) No one does. So how do you think the users from France will feel if they see what you typed?
C) France didn't make that song, an American citizen did. And how would you know if there were songs like that in France or not? Do you lice there? Are you fluent in French? Or maybe they don't. Maybe the people in France actually like their government. (Remember, Green Day is American)
D) Change whatever name you want, as long as it isn't an attack on another country. How has France attacked you? How have they shown intense dislike?
E) If you're gonna spout off all that stuff... Go dismantle the Statue of Liberty, as that was a gift from France... Or maybe just change it's name to "The Statue of Freedom"

Maybe the tiniest bit, but no more.

Yeah, well I DID NOT BASH THEM.

I NEVER SAID that France made it. I just know that France has been a real jerk to us. It has NOTHING to do with the song being from French people. Look at how they've treated the US.
D) Change whatever name you want, as long as it isn't an attack on another country. How has France attacked you? How have they shown intense dislike?
Are you BLIND? Have you seen ANY news? Have you seen HOW THEY'VE ACTED TO US BECAUSE WE DEFENDED OUR COUNTRY? It's not that they didn't want to go--it's how they TREATED us! Look! Come on, they've been mean--not all, but many to most.
E) If you're gonna spout off all that stuff... Go dismantle the Statue of Liberty, as that was a gift from France... Or maybe just change it's name to "The Statue of Freedom"

1. There's no word France in Statue of Liberty
2. That was from during the days when France was our REAL full-fledged friend, not just a "friend."

A) The tiniest bit? Ok . It was more of an attack than "Redneck agenda" IMO.
B)Didn't you? "Oh look at how much they hate us, France is always attacking us... blah blah blah blah." How do you not see that as even the slightest attack? I know if I was from France, I'd feel offended.
C) Then if you know France didn't make it, why bring up that they don't have songs like that playing? Seems like a useless point to me that you just put to make it seem like you had a stronger argument.
D) No, remember. Us unprivaledged Canadians are banned from watching any of your news. . And again. Do you live in France? Do you know many or most French people? No. Invalid point again.
E) So there's a difference between the country just because you think they are just a "friend"? They still gave it to you as a gift.

It's even the slightest attack, I said that in "the tiniest bit." I'm thinking about getting one of Bill O'Reilly's "Boycott France" bumper stickers, btw.
C) Then if you know France didn't make it, why bring up that they don't have songs like that playing? Seems like a useless point to me that you just put to make it seem like you had a stronger argument.
Huh? What? And this is what started the French argument:

Actually, you're just not allowed to watch FOX News, which is censorship. I have seen French things, etc, and heard much. I don't need to be htere to know. And I'm not saying that we have to censor French things--let them in, and then if you want to boycott them, then don't use them. Otherwise, the government doesn't need to disallow it and you can buy it. I don't care--buy the items if you want. I just am boycotting them (even though I get nothing from them, I do and support it, and who knows when I'll get a French good.)
E) So there's a difference between the country just because you think they are just a "friend"? They still gave it to you as a gift.

That was YEARS ago. They have changed.

A) Yes it is!
B) Hmm. Another insult added to the list against France. Good work RM. You're now a foot closer to your grave.
C) Defiant somewhat started it. But you mentioned that France doesn't have songs like that. If you are going to debate, at least remember your own points.
D) Thank God. I'm saved from your propoganda . And that was a subtle attack on Canada about "Oh we won't censor out France." There's 2 countries added to the list that you've attacked but for some reason no one can attack America. (And yes, I did trap you into that one? Fun eh?)
E) They have changed, and so has America.....

I didn't say that they don't do songs like that--I don't even know THAT. But what I said was that France didn't do American Idiot.

No, you didn't. I am not attacking Canada. I'm not even attacking France!
E) They have changed, and so has America.....

Obviously, over time that happens. But not in the way like France.

A) Yes it was (This one's gonna go back and forth for a few hours )
B)No? Great answer. A boycott France bumper sticker isn't an attack?
C)Then why did you even bring it up in the first place? Great they don't have the song. Lets move aling.
D) Not attacking France? Maybe you should reread a few of your posts.... "France all hates us, they are always attacking us! I support Freedom fries! They keep changing for the worst! I'm buying a boycott France bumper sticker."
E) Ahh, the all great America not changing as bad as France eh? You're the country with all the murders, going to war with countries and such, while France says "No, lets not go to war." Wow. They really took a turn for the worst eh?

No, it is NOT an attack.
C)Then why did you even bring it up in the first place? Great they don't have the song. Lets move aling.
DEFIANT brought it up!
D) Not attacking France? Maybe you should reread a few of your posts.... "France all hates us, they are always attacking us! I support Freedom fries! They keep changing for the worst! I'm buying a boycott France bumper sticker."
Yeah, I see I said a couple outrageous things like that they "all hate us" (if I even said that) because it's not that they ALL HATE us, but that most of them don't like us and are, dare I say it, jerks. The Freedom Fries, Changing for the Worst, and Boycott comments are NOT attacks.
E) Ahh, the all great America not changing as bad as France eh? You're the country with all the murders, going to war with countries and such, while France says "No, lets not go to war." Wow. They really took a turn for the worst eh?

My gosh! Crime rate is at it's lowest it's EVER been in the US, and we went to war for DEFENSE FOR OUR COUNTRY AND THE WORLD, along with 47 real, true allies and true friends. We are a GREAT country. The best in the world, in my opinion. (No attack there, it's patriotism)
Sure, yeah, that's not the real reason that I don't like them is because they didn't go to war. It's because of the way they acted towards us when we did so. That's what. And it's DEFINITE that they have been jerks to us. Bill O'Reilly and Jon Gibson have made some pretty good points, and now this debate has gotten me very interested in getting Jon Gibson's book "Hating America: The New World Sport," which will have some GREAT points.

I can't see how you can say that almost all of France hates us and that they're mostly jerks. That's kind of offensive, seeing as you haven't even been there (I presume).

1. Yes, I haven't been there, and you raise a good point.
2. Have you read what I've said lately? Not that they HATE us, but that they don't like us.
3. I've seen how they've acted to the US, so I believe that I can make these judgements. ESPECIALLY since a Frenchwoman that I know who came to the US from France agrees with me.
4. Perhaps the jerk comment was rather rash...

B) Then what is an attack? How about I buy a bumper sticker than says "Shoot Americans on sight". Would that be an attack?
C) He brought up the France thing. You brought up that France doesn't have the song.
D) Jerks. Another attack. Those other comments were attacks on the country, no matter how you look at them (Except from the RM point of view). And you know what I say? EVERYONE GO BUY GREEN DAY'S CD!
E) In a country were 16 000 gun related murders is the lowest ever, houw is it so much better and taking a better turn than France? Oh so your Northern neighbours aren't allies? We helped you in Afghanistan and try to have free trade with you (Until you tariffed out lumber).
Go ahead. Buy a book that insults other countries by saying that they are all insulting america. But while you're in the book store, I'lll be in the music store picking up Green Day's CD.

Oh yes it would! You're telling them to HURT someone!! Telling people to boycott something is NOT an attack.
C) He brought up the France thing. You brought up that France doesn't have the song.
I don't know if they do or not.
D) Jerks. Another attack. Those other comments were attacks on the country, no matter how you look at them (Except from the RM point of view). And you know what I say? EVERYONE GO BUY GREEN DAY'S CD!
I just said that it was rather rash, and that's what I think. The jerks comment WAS wrong, and I'm sorry for it.
E) In a country were 16 000 gun related murders is the lowest ever, houw is it so much better and taking a better turn than France? Oh so your Northern neighbours aren't allies? We helped you in Afghanistan and try to have free trade with you (Until you tariffed out lumber).
I'm talking about our help and kindness towards coutnries. And I don't like the tarrifing of the lumber. And I NEVER said that they weren't allies--I just said that in quotes saying that "allies" meaning real, true, kind, helpful friends. France--primarily the government--gave us the proverbial finger, as did Russian and Germany, but France has been the worst.
Go ahead. Buy a book that insults other countries by saying that they are all insulting america. But while you're in the book store, I'lll be in the music store picking up Green Day's CD.
Well, you know, he makes some good points with facts, etc and doesn't right out bash, okay? It's NOT a bashing book. It expresses an opinion on how other countries have been acting to us lately, WITH things to back it up. Good things.

Also, it may seem, I've come to realize, that I am a racist towards French people. If you see it that way, then it is NOT true. I just don't like how the majority of them have acted towards the US one bit. And if I were racist, then I wouldn't like that French woman, much of my family (for percentages) and 20% of myself, as I am 20% French.

Quote:
Okay, they don't like us, I still don't see how you or she can say that. The government may not like us, but the entire french people? Seems rather bold.

Have you read what I've said? I've said MOST, NOT all. And I know that it's the government that's the main force, but I know that many to most French people don't like us. I just know. Now, I recommend that we get off this topic, because it's going in circles and appears to be hurtful to people.

So, back to the song: it's not right.

So what are you talking about? You must mean at least 50% of the French population... I just don't see how you can make a claim like that. You do not speak for the citizens of France.

Forgive me, I should have said "I can just tell."
Yes, I am saying that, and I think, from what I've seen and heard, I can make that judgement. France is not much of a friend anymore, but let's get back on topic.

And I concede that the Jerks comment was an attack because in the song

Quote:
Don't wanna be an American idiot.

THAT is an attack, and as another said, I "can't have it both ways," and it was wrong for me to do so, so... (That includes an apology)

--EDIT--

However, looking at how the French government has treated the US, the GOVERNMENT has undoubtedly been jerkish.
I also STILL stand by the Boycott and Freedom Fries, even though I still call them French Fries (same with French Toast) primarily as a boycott against the government more than the French people.
