Wed Sep 07, 2005 3:20 pm [KATRINA] Would you have left your pet? |
|
I, personally, couldn't have left Noelle. It wouldn't even be an option.
(or Molly, Noopa, Munchie, Cacha, Thaaron, or any of the other kittens, noooo way).

Some of us fall by the wayside
And some of us soar to the stars
And some of us sail through our troubles
And some have to live with our scars

Honestly, I don't know.
I'd certainly take them if I was evacuating on my own. However, if I were being evacuated in a bus and the animals weren't allowed to come along, I would probably have to leave them behind.
And that would break my heart.

Val is small enough that we would have taken her with us. I don't think there is any way I'd be able to save my guinea pigs, so if I had been in N.O. during Katrina I would have tried a painless/humane way of letting them go (so they wouldn't suffer). As for Bing, she's very old and 60+ pounds, I don't know what we'd do. We'd do everything we could to take her with us, if there were absolutly no way she could come we'd probably opt humane and painless way of letting her go (at a vets...) but we'd be sobbing the whole way out.

I don't really know... as apart from a hamster that would fit in my pocket I don't have any pets (and yes, I'd take Hammy with me).

I have so many pets that I couldn't possibly save them all, but I would take with me the ones I could

If there is time to take them and leave, yes I would take my cats. But, if there is not enough time, no because I will be concentrating the more important, my kids, husband, and myself. But, if I had enough head of time warning, yes I would take my cats. I know it may sound mean but I look out for my kids the most.

No, but then a goldfish isn't exactly a "close" pet!

My dog would be the first one in the car anyway. ...poodles are portable. Of course I'd take her.

If I had the time to collect all my animals,I would.I would just open my cockys cage and let them fly out.My rabbits and 5 guinea pigs would be hard,to catch in their yard I mean.I only have 2 pet carriers,my cat would definately be coming with me.
But my 2 kids come first above any animals,I wouldnt put their lives at risk to save animals.BUT I would do what ever I could to save them!

With a hurricane like that coming, me and my Beagle would be in Baton Rouge by the time it hit land.
