Fri Aug 26, 2005 12:23 am Military Base Closers & Relocations Topic |
|
I dont want to bump the old post so I will a start a new.
So anyways I think it is just stupid that the U.S. Government are planning to relocate Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital. As the pentagon says it will save them billions of dollars by moving the facility to Bethesda, Maryland.
It will cost 900million dollars to relocate. The thing that disturbs me is that they are wasting money moving that darn facility. Couldn't the military just upgrade Walter Reed and make it more modern so they don't have to move to another facility. I think upgrading the facility to more modern equipments is way cheaper than moving to another hospital.
It is a waste of money moving facilities because I don't think it will save the military any money. They will just end up spending more money moving and increasing the debt.

This is so outrageoudly wrong in my opinion. Government is all screwed up. Moving Walter Reed is not good.

We're at war, (terrorism), and a bigger target than ever before. Yeah, closing bases, moving things, waste, that sounds logical.

Well, if you remember back you said that the government would have a lot more information than we would have for Iraq, and so it was ok to go in. But now when it's something else that you disagree with it's ok?

It's my opinion on the situation, I don't claim to have all the answers, Jeremy.

Well, Northa Dakota and New Mexico apparently won their lawsuits. Both of their Air Force bases are staying open, for now. However, these are the military's facilites, I'd think they'd know whats best for them.

Like the military knew best for the SGC; they kept on closing it even though Earth was saved numerous times from alien invasion. (Admittedly there were political concerns).
It's invasion of the bureaucrats. They balance the books and do everything on paper, regardless if the laws of physics will apply or not. Pure bistromathics at times, it seems.

Our Limestone DFAS survived, so there's some good news. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard also made it, though Brunswick Naval Air Station didn't. They're apparently going to relocate a lot of them up to Bangor.

The military has considerations we probably would never think of, and they might just know what they're doing.
But even if they don't, it is not the military's job to support civilian communities and businesses.

It doesn't really make sense to pull in the bases closer to the middle of the country, though...

Apparently to them it does. They're the paid strategests, so I'll assume they know what they're doing.

So dooooesn't, BIA is to be changed to a jumping off point should we ever go to war. (In which we need to protect this country). Loring AFB (former), is also being kept up for such a purpose.
