|
Well quite frankly I am sick of my parents making me do things that are pointless around the house. Like my dad today thinks the tree was going to fall down so he asked me to help him tie down the darn tree.
When I make enough money I'm moving out and living on my own. Then I will happy and have a fun and unrestricted life.

I don't like the one that says I can't go out at night by myself In reality though I'm glad I don't live with my mother, and I can pretty much do what I want. I'm just restricted by my fears.

But of course people like me in the future will turn out just like my parents, I will be very restrictive and hard on the kids.

Sammie's going to have a pretty relaxed upbringing. The hard bit is trying to balance everything, and I don't think anyone's got it completely right yet
I'm going to try not to be like my parents too much... might even go to parenting classes

I don't really have any, but thats because my parents are always working and I'm home alone most of the time. But, I'd say that certain rules are good, I guess. Like helping out with chores. I've found that if I help out, they're more likely to give me things, but it isn't really a rule that I have to help, I've only just started because I want the cash.

Gee... I've never thought that my parents raising me and sending me through school and giving me a roof over my head and feeding me was so bad that I should never want to do anything in return. I mean... God forbid I should have to unload the dishwasher. My gosh.

You should be blessed Borgslayer that you got two parents. Reason parents set rules is to help you in life. To protect too. You may not like it now, one day you will thank them. I hope I am making sense.

Sometimes I hate having to do my chores and stuff, but when I think about it I guess my mum and dad are just helping me in a way to 'grow up'

Yes I do chores I around the house I like it.
However it does getting annoying because my brother refuses to do any work around the house so im stuck to doing chores around house or extra work.
I have a regular job + tons of house chores.
So my parents does get to me. Especially my mom who is lazy at times and won't even bother to go down stairs just to get a drink of water. I have to get the water for her.

No... My parents & I can get along really well. I've lived on my own for three months, and I learnd quite a bit there. So I'm just helping out in the household and stuff, but what I do with my friends and stuff is my business. I do let them know where I am and stuff

We don't really have any house rules. Just, kinda unspoken laws... like- no throwing porcupines when balloons are around. But, no real house rules. My bedroom is my bedroom and if it's hideously messy than its me that suffers.

I don't mind my house rules as much cause they give me alot of freedom, i just don't like the one i have about not being able to use the phone for long distance calls unless it's family.

I got along fine with my parents when I was living at home and since there really werent many house rules I never had any problems with them.

Just remember- you think life will be unrestricted but it is not. You have to work and that takes up loads of time.

Parents set rules to teach you so when you go grow up, you will know how to survive in the world. Also to protect you also. It is not like they trying to be mean or anything. But, I do agree your mom shouldn't be lazy and have you get her water. Unless she is sick.

I moved out last year, it's nothing to write home about. More freedom, but you have to do everything for yourself. Enjoy living at home while you can.

Well, my parents can do things that really annoy me. Like for example, my dad sits all day, watches TV, and gets up on two occasions: go to the bathroom and get another glass of something to drink. Then I'm the one unloading the dishwasher and doing the laundry etc. Then I start to think "gee... I'm not my fathers first child.... so when he's been working to provide for his family since he was 19. Hmm... I think I owe him one."
In all actuality, doing chores around the house isn't that bad, they really suck when you're doing them, but when you sit back and look at the job you did (if you did a good job, that is) you can say "gee... I did this, and I did damn good if I do say so myself." and lets not forget the laws of quid pro quo, You scratch my back, I'll scratch your back. So you might not get an allowance, but you get freedoms and food and a roof over your head... so yeah. Puts things in perspective, doesn't it....
/\ Man... I should post at 5:40 more often.

I love doing that! Like when I spontaneously hoover or clean the windows.
The only house rule that pissed me off recently was the curfew. We were in a graveyard doing ouiji and my mum phoned me in the middle of a session and was all like "You have to be home by ten!" which meant we had to end our session, which was kinda lame, but it was getting really dark and none of use had a torch (flashlight) and some boy did get sexually assalted right near that graveyard, so I guess it was just my mum looking out for me.
