Next week i am working with children. It is a nightmare. It's volunteer work, so I don't get paid. You can't insult or swear at children even if they insult you first. I have to wear this disgustingly garish uniform. I have to prentend to be perpetually happy for two weeks of my summer holidays. I have to teach these kids about Jesus, which I think is wrong because I have no faith in Jesus, I never think WWJD and just generally, I wouldn't call myself an active christian.
If I don't do this job, it disrupts family harmony and I'll put on weight.

I work with elderly people in a retirement home. Some are in the very early stages of Alzheimers, but most of them are really 'good'. They can't walk very well so they use a 'rollator'. I don't know what the English word is, but it looks like this:
It's so they can walk more easily.
Yeah, and some have hearing problems, or can't speak very well. Some have had a CVA, or a brain haemorrhage.
But it's quite easy. I think. I've worked with children with behavioral problems, I think this is easy compared to that. I just serve them coffee and assist the people who work with them. I talk to them, play games and all that sorta stuff.
And I get paid to, so that's even better!

I think old people are more fun than children. You can have adult comversations, learn about the war and learn stuff about knitting and what life used to be like. They are fountains if quirky knowledge. And some of them are really good at chess.
I've never seen that "rollator" thing... but it looks a bit like a zimmerframe.

Yeah exactly!! It's so interesting to listen to their stories, I love it. I have great respect for them, too.
Yeah, could be. It wasn't in my dictionary, so I thought, I put up a pic, maybe someone recognizes it!

Only twoooo days left of Home Depot!! X=ll suck it, Home Depot!!
I got another job just for August, though. I'm working for Graner Music, which is the main musical instrument supplier in the Springs. I get to go to middle schools and tell kids that I think they really look lik "a trumpet player" or "a floutist" and tell them they were really good when they tested it out so it will give their parents hope and they'll rent their kids some instruments. I always wondered how I started playing the oboe... it was probably one of those kids from Graner telling me they thought I would make a good oboe player....

He's going to Basic in Texas... somewhere... in the middle of nowhere. He might get stationed at Nellis NV for Intel, I think. BUt that wil.l be about 8 months from now.

Oh yeah? Sweet. I already have a friend at Nellis right now. We're going to Vegas in a couple weeks and are going to meet up with him. So.. I suppose there are worse places to be stationed..... I have a friend in the marines who's posted in North Carolina.
