Just a quick FYI: Jesus never said a single word about not wanting women to be priests.
Oh, and there already are women bishops in the Episcopal Church.

Exactly. That's a totally different thing than claiming Jesus "didn't want women to be [sic] 'preists.'"

No it doesn't. Could you actually READ posts? I've already explained that. The Catholic Church does not believe that women are worth less than men. Ever heard of the Virgin Mary? Do you understand how imporant she is to the Religion? |
So their really good, non outdatedly sexist reason for not letting women be priests is........

There is one, which I will say, but you probably won't accept it, as it's not totally politically correct, although it's not unpolitically correct either. Have a look at my answer before if you haven't and it'll help.
Men and woman have been designed (or come into being if you disagree with there being God) in different ways. Take a look at our teachers. Our nurses. They're mostly females. Take a look at the plumbers. The builders. They're mostly male. Why is this?
Because we're different, we suit different tasks better. Females are good at understanding relationships better, can see better when someone is upset. It's why courts want the mum to take charge if the child if it is possible. They know the child more. Guys are better at leadership, making decissions and manual, physical tasks. I'm not saying it's true in all cases, but in most of them it is.
And you have to remember with leadership comes responsiblity. Look at Adam and Eve (from a religious perspective). God asked Adam why he ate the fruit, before He asked Eve. Adam then tried to blame Eve, when he should have accepted responsibility.

You think a man is not close to his child as the mother is? I have to disagree with that cause Charlie is really close to our kids. He knows them like a book and more. I have to say with some men don't know their kids but some dads actually do, Jeremy
I don't see anything wrong with a woman spreading God's word. It happens all the time. Been like that for years where I come from. A woman is just as capable as a man.

I didn't say he is not as close, but he is not as in tune with their emotional side and how they are coping in relationships.

Thanks, everybody, for your views. I have learnt a lot. I can't really have an opinion because, despite believing in God, I am not an Anglican or Roman Catholic and whilst I know a little about their traditions, I am no expert, so I really wouldn't be able to formulate an opinion.

You're a good person.

Aw, thank you. I'm just saying that I believe that in some areas of religion it is very important to stay completely traditional. Women are not seen as less in the Catholic church (and I was brought up protestant, so I'm not bias), they just do not become priests or bishops or "men of god". They can devote their life to God by becoming nuns.
Being a priest isn't all that fun, you know. Not allowed to get married, not allowed to have sex, it could drive you crazy after a while, especially if you were one of those really broody women who think about babies all the time. I don't see why a woman would want to be a priest. Might as well leave it to the men.

I am going to keep my post on this one short
I am non religious, and I dont want no big arguments over this post lol.
I think it makes no real differance if I went into a church to confess to a man or a woman.
to me a religious person is a religious person weather it be male or female they are both doing what they want to do and serving there beleaves in the houser of there beleaves.
but what i really find amusing in this topic with all the good arguments being posted in eather side yes and no I noticed only one thing about this whole topic thats prity amusing,
all those aposed to this most have forgotton to vote. cas if this went to a lets see what the poll says its all in favor at presant.
But to me, it doesnt matter so much I think people should be spending less time debating on matters like this and putting more effort into helping people.
I mean I was watching Sister act just the other day and how many of you can honestly say you have ever seen any church (I know these were nuns)
but really how many have you seen going out into the streets and really helping, I ve never seen any in my area other than the bad religious people who knock on your door just to preach there ways onto you even if you dont want to listen..
(sorry for the bad spelling)

Like the Jehovah witness comes knocking. I don't answer the door when we lived off post. On post they are not allowed to go door to door. No other religion. Cause different people here are different demonations. To keep stuff in order and peace.
I seen a woman chaplain before at the chapel. I don't see nothing wrong in women who brings the word of God. The army does not discriminate. To bad the rest the world is not like the military, no discrimination.

*Thwaps Johny* St Patricks does help people in the area... they just tend to do it with the community association, that's all.
And don't forget Stephen (the vicar) is coming around soon and wants to talk to you as well
I found with Jehovah Witnesses it's best just to say you're very busy, but you'll read their leaflet. Sometimes they're even interesting
I'd also like to remind Founder I stated in my post I wasn't talking about the Catholic church, as I don't know enough about them. I was talking about the Anglican church (Church of England specifically).

I collect their leaflets. They give you more if you have a Buddha statue on the radiator by the door. I just like learning about the "paridisical earth" they're promising when this one ends. The illustrations show that everyone there will be happy despite their awful dress sense.
If a woman wants to be a bishop, then heck, go for it. Set up your own branch of Christianity if you have to.
