I can't believe you guys would say it's going to be bad....
1) Johnny Depp is in it. Have you not seen him in any other movie? Do you not know that he's probably the most versatile actor in Hollywood?
2) Tim Burton directed it. Hello? Nightmare Before Christmas? Was there ever a better off-the-beaten-track movie?
3) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is probably one of Rhold Dahl's best original novels. Remember... the original movie was called Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I'm willing to bet this movie is more true to the events of the book.

I can't wait to see it. I loved the original, and I love Johnny Depp. There is a possibility it could be entirely bad... but I haven't seen Johnny Depp in a movie I disliked as of yet. He could prove me wrong, but I think he might be smarter than that. We shall see.

The original was nothing like the book, and I despise films that are nothing like the book...

The book was for kids, the movie wasn't supposed to be,

I just saw it. It was pretty good. It varied quite a lot from the old one, the the fact that this one isn't a musical (except for the Oompa Loompas) and that this one was more directed to kids. It was really funny, though, a olot of dry humor, a lot of satire kind of things. One thing... the tunnel scene from the old movie was so much cooler than this one. BUt I don't know that that scene could ever be beat, so oh well.

I would not go see any movie with Johnny Depp if some paid me a million dollars. I am not wasting my hubby's money to see it.

Johnny Depp rocks... he's sooo smooth. How can you resist someone who's been in two movies about chocolate and has been a pirate?

No Nadia I don't like him. I don't hate him , just don't like him. He is not rocking in my book. He sucks. Bad acting. Nothing is better than the orginal movie.

Bad acting? Johnny Depp? Ther is no possible way you can put those in the same sentence and mean it sincerely. He's one of the only actors in Hollywood that can actually step out of himself and play anything. He's larger than life and it's awesome.
btw, was Mike TV always from Denver, Colorado? They picked really good people for him and his family. They look very authentically Coloradan.

Same here. Looks disturbing, horrible, and odd--nothing like the original (Willy Wonka and the CF)

The new movie is a lot more true to the book than the old one ever was.

A valid comment, but I found parts of the original to be very disturbing. Those Ooompa Loompas were horrible, hanging round like vultures. You had that hauntingly beautiful boat ride, which was fairly disturbing. And who can forget a young girl turning blue and then inflating slightly.
Scary stuff.
