Hi everyone. Im having a problem with pop-up bar. It shows up whenever i go onto the internet for the first time when my computers turned on. Before i would just press the small red X button but now when i do it nothing happens. I cant figure out how to get rid of it now and its constantly their even when i dont have an internet page open.

(Its the bar at the bottom with the thick black box around it)

If you go to the Control Panel, then Add/Delete Programs, you might be able to find it in there and delete it. That's what I usually do. It'll probably just be titled something like "SearchBar" or "XPSearch".... probably something with the word search in it. Anyway, just click on it from there and select "delete program".

Thanks. I tryed to control panel thing. I managed to delete a few things but it werent on their. Its still at the bottom of my screen On the add/remove bit in the control panel i saw loads of things on their and ive got no idea what it is. It was "Windows XP Hotfix -" and some of them would say something else after the dash. Like a code or something. It takes up probly almost half of the list. Do you think they might be the problem?

go up to View then choose toolbars, uncheck all of them, then check the only ones you want. Standard buttons, address bar, etc.

That should get rid of it.

Hotfixes are Windows patches. Don't remove them.

Switch to Firefox. I've not yet had spyware infest my computer in the way it did back when I use IE.

Also look for suspicious processes in your task manager (by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del) and Google them to see if you can remove them. I recommend you get a program like Spybot Search and Destroy and/or Ad Aware to zap spyware while you're at it.

I think that task bar is from msn messanger or is it the plus one, umm I know its only of the two programs, its from that program msn plus if you agree to there terms installes spy wear on your pc, but if you say no it installs anyways and doesnt add anything other than the program.

Did you recently install any downloaded programs (ie messenger services) Sometimes they install this stuff unless you tell it not to.

Go download webroot spysweeper or buy it. or Get Spyware Doctor and have it removed from your system.

Its just a nasty spyware/hijacking ware.
