I first watched the film in 2003 and from then i was hooked on it. I watched all of the episodes the very first time they aired over here. It is truly excellent.

I'll admit the first thing that caught my attention about the show was that in the intro one of the instruments you hear is a Bassoon, and I play bassoon.

Battlestar Galactica is the best scifi show out atm. After hearing 3 different people mentioning it out of no where, I gave the show a try 2 days ago.... It is intense... the setting and plot of the show seems more genuine and believable than other scifi shows. Some elements reminded me of Farscape though. For example, the alternate word cursing thing... and the alien in a character's mind thing.

I'm definitely hooked.

It had one of the best season finales in my opinion. The ending was particularly contrasting and excellently done. One of its best attributes was the score, something I pay particular attention to in television and movies. The music that accompanied Six and Baltar during their encounter was quite enjoyable.

Spoiler! wrote:
And I realized how much empathy they've managed to create for Commander Adama. When Boomer shot him, I could visualize the entire audience just collectively gasping. That moment would be the kind where one wants tissue on hand--I did not actually cry, but it was traumatic enough. It reminds me of the scene when the "Preacher" is assassinated near the end of the miniseries Frank Herbert's Children of Dune. In both instances, the use of slow motion made it dramatic without making it cheesy, and I really enjoyed it.

I cannot wait for another season! It shows so much potential and promise, unlike other shows which have none (::cough:: Enterprise, and more notably, Stargate Atlantis ::cough: or shows that are doing well but are starting to wind down, like Stargate SG-1.

Hitch, I was shocked at that scene.... I couldn't fraking believe it.

I agree with you on the musical score. Another thing I love about BSG is the dialogue especially the religious philosophical ones.

I'm not sure but after watching the series again, I may actually like it better than Firefly. If not, it's certainly close running

I love Firefly. It's hard for me to compare Firefly and BSG because, to me, BSG has more of a serious tone and is intense while Firefly has more humor and silliness. I love both shows for different qualities.

Before last week (before I watch one min of BSG), Farscape and Firefly were the best scifi in the last 5 years (since the DS9 finale). Now it's Farscape, Firefly and BSG. BSG is THAT GOOD.

I love to compare BSG and Farscape. They both have their humerous moments, but they have a serious, well thought out plot. I could almost compare it to B5. Same concept. Written with the end in mind. Serious, continuous plot. Most shows plots just jump around. But this show just sticks and it follows a plot line.

^^ Yeah, I agree. The story arch is working out well for them. The first season has been memorable.

Noooo - I won't get to see it until the DVD boxset gets brought out next year! Being in the UK and not having SKY means the DVDs are my only hope.

I dont get why BSG season 2 is airing in America before it is in the UK. In season 1 it started on the same date in america & england (I actually think season 1 aired in the uk first)

From what I've heard about Season 2, it sounds as though that Battlestar Galactica will start showing new episodes first. However, half way through the season the series will 'pause' on a cliffhanger, concluding in January time (ish). By this time SKY will have started showing the new series. I'm not sure if it's tied that the channels will conclude at about the same time or if SKY will actually finish first.

That's what I heard - not sure if it's true. I have access to neither channel so I didn't really pay that much attention lol.

Look at the one called "Starbucks everywhere!"
http://cartoons.ashtonpress.net/toonarama.htm

I love old school BSG... it was great. I mean, they went into a bank with ingots of gold... it was badass. And there was all those kids who played baseball really well because they were used to stronger gravity.

But... the new one was good, especially the flying sequences in space when there was no music. Very stylistic.

The Delta Flyer,

I didn't have the opportunity to sit in front of the TV and watch the broadcast of the episode. However, like many people all over the world, I have acknowledged that there are resources on the net that allows faithful fans to watch missed episodes at their own convenience without commercials. These resources are available shortly after the TV broadcast.

For more information refer to the following article which speaks of these resources and its *positive* affects on Battlestars ratings.

Was good. It definitely is the best sci-fi show out there, I think.

Oh I could cry! I wanna see it now!

As for these 'resources', I tend to keep away from them as much as I can now. I 'acquired' (through the medium of dance) the last episode of Season 1 of Stargate Atlantis only to find that the sound was running slightly faster (the distance between sound and video increased throughout - so much so that you would hear the sound of a Wraith Dart exploding whilst the video was still in the previous scene with characters talking to each other). That kinda put me off similar 'acquisitions' - I don't want to spoil Galactica with the same thing.

Having said that, I'll still watch the episodes when they air and eventually buy the DVDs.

Similarly:
