I think the best choice would be the mirror universe. StarFleet as an empire? Vulcians as slaves? I think this idea provides ST writers lots to write about. New ideas to explore. A starfleet without the prime directive? New uniforms, new ship designs, a new crew, a whole new trek!

i think this would confuse new viewers. its kind of like alternet dimensions in the DC comic universe.

It would be cool to see more Mirror Universe, and not the Modern crap where the empire is now a slave race either. but an entire seven year run sereis may make people sick of it. Perhaps a movie, or a miniseres, to liven thigs up

No i dont like the mirror universe idea. I do think it would be excellent but it is not what Gene Rodenberry would want and its not what star trek is about.

I agree with Sonic74205.
The Mirror Universe is cool, but it's not so special that it must a own serie. They COULD make a serie with a Federation Vessel stuck in the Mirror Universe, and that they later return in normal space.
Maybe that's an idea??

I love those stories, and the alternate universe stories in Marvel Comics.
I think the next Trek series needs to be something new, unrelated to other series, but still Trek in some way. It needs to appeal to ALL people, from hardcore Trekkies to casual sci-fi fans. That won't be easy, but I'm sure they can do it.
