Two ships, two crews, two points of view. The Federation has been torn apart, Starfleet corrupted under the weight of it's own paranoia. They try to exert more and finer control over Federation worlds, claiming (and believing) that they're doing so for the good of all, but many worlds resist. Finally, an alternate alliance is formed. Ships and crews choose sides. As ship numbers become more important, older designs are brought out of mothballs, refitted, modified.

Each week, the episode will focus on one of the two ships. One a Starfleet loyal ship, taking orders from Earth and doing what they truly believe is in the best interest of the known Galaxy, the other a former Starfleet ship, it's crew part of the new alliance, the ship augmented with alien technology. They too believe that they're doing what is absolutely essential to the safety and security of the Galaxy.

This would not be a "Star Wars" Empire .vs New Republic type drama, but much more subtle. No one would be evil, it would not be all-out war. Simply two viewpoints played out point-counterpoint every other week. Sure, there would be the odd phaser fight, or fleet skirmish, but overall the twists and turns, the secrets and revelations would be the stuff of intrigue, guile... like I said, subtle.

The Star Trek Universe needs a bit of shaking up, not just a new enemy or far-flung time or location. The Federation needs to buckle, and it's inhabitants rise to a new challenge.

Thats exactly what I was going to do in my RPG...

Go right ahead. I don't do RPGs. However, should you produce a pilot for TV without crediting yours truly, we're going to have a problem.

I don`t think that that is a good idea, because of 2 reasons:
1. Harry Kim is a Captain Commanding the USS Rhode Island
2. I thought that Tom had resigned from Starfleet?

What do you think of this:
Startrek: The Dominion
This serie is going to explain how the Dominion became the rulers over the Gamma Quardrent. Talking over big fights, taking over planets etc. etc. This time, no Starfleet. Well, maybe when the war begins. The story is based on a Dominion Warship.

We know nothing of the future after voyager returned. Harry Kim isn't the captain of the Rode Island because that was a different time line. It was never mentioned that tom resigned from starfleet.

With all these ideas. I think that it should definately remain a starfleet thing. Star Trek is supposed to be a future way of life and dealing with real life problems as a metophore in the episode which makes people feel better about themselves and change their outlook in life when watching the episodes. We must remember this.

ALL SF series are intergalactic soap operas.

Why not an Academy-based series for the teens, and an adult-themed series for the adults? One size does NOT fit all.

I loved all the ideas that borgslayer came up with! How about combining Critical Care,Resolutions,The Future Voyageand Intelligence with the offspring of all the past crews running all the new stations/ships? Dedicating one episode a week focusing on each idea above.I love hospital/medicine shows too,so this would be a real treat to watch a show like this!?!?

I think there should be at least one episode on rape and abortion. They are topics that need to be delt with.

I don't think so, especially since it doesn't really happen in the 24th century Besides, it'd be too politically motivated.

Why shouldn't it happen? Star Trek has discussed other topics that are equally pollitically based (such as the death sentence).

And how do you know that it won't happen in the 24th century? There are always going to be unwanted pregnancies, and there are always going to be rapists. It's human nature.

They could do an episode where someone gets an unwanted pregancy and different members of the crew are for or against it. And then the girl could decide to keep it alive but have a miscarraige or give it up for adoption or something

TNG did that loads of times and Voyager went onto the topic once or twice. Its been done before.

Star Trek: Timeline

What about a Star Trek show that's a cross between Star Trek, Back to the Future and 24.

The ships could travel thrugh different times (and different series!) and do stuff.... on a timescale... they could have 1 day in each timeline to sort things out.

Does that sound good or just stupid?

Hmm...what about

[working title]Star Trek: The Thin Line

Based on my RPG...?

The Story: The year is 2413. The Federation has decided to expand into the Beta and Delta Quadrants via a concept operation called Project Odyssey. This operation entails the use of two highly advanced and upgraded Sovereign Class vessels, called Sovereign Dreamweavers, as well as enhanced Genesis Torpedoes. The plan is to send one of the vessels, USS Odysseus, to the Beta Quadrant to plant the torpedo on a "dead" planet. The other ship, USS Cathexis, is ordered to plant its torpedo on a "dead" planet in the Gamma Quadrant. Cathexis will be deployed through the wormhole at DS9. Odysseus will launch through a separate wormhole that leads to the Beta Quad. (discovered 2401) at DS10. All in all, the mission will take 6 years to complete itself, allowing 3 years for both planets to develop, and for both ship another 3 years is needed to return from deep space. Finally, USS Odysseus and USS Cathexis will transport specific members of the Federation and their families to each of these planets (Yedoxus and Acrisia) to begin building & establishing a presence.

So, as expected, the mission begins. Unfortunately, something goes fatally wrong. Only one of the ships, USS Cathexis, returns to Utopia Planitia in 2419, and while Odysseus is M.I.A., the crew of the Cathexis has a disturbing tale to tell. While on their way back to the Alpha Quadrant, both ships were exposed to a malignant, gaseous substance called Khetroline, or "K-Sachs" (named after the scientist who discovered it) emanating from the atmospheres of the Genesis planets. Subsequently, the crews of Odysseus and Cathexis developed a disorder called Thin Line Syndrome (More details about this can be read below). Weakened by this unusual but terrifying syndrome, USS Odysseus broke off inter-quadrant contact with both Starfleet and the Cathexis. She has not been heard from since. While Cathexis was able to return to Utopia Planitia, her crew suffered terribly along the way. It has taken 2 years for Starfleet Medical to develop a vaccine. However, IRZ, short for Irizine, has been inoculated into the ship's compliment.

Now that SM has the cure for TLS, Headquarters has ordered Cathexis back out into deep space to search for Odysseus, and then inoculate its crew. Finally, both ships are to return to the Alpha Quadrant. Later the original project will need to be completed, as expected, and the mystery of how the Genesis torpedos malfunctioned will be investigated thoroughly by Starfleet Intelligence.

PostMon Jul 11, 2005 12:41 am    New Series

I think a totally awsome series would be one of two... the first is a mirror universe series. The mirror universe has been used in the original series, TNG, VOY and ENT. Why not take that a bit further and make that a series. Two..a series about the borg. The borgs beginings are unknown. In one of the original movies the borg are implied as to Viger. Shattner himself wrote a book with Viger as the origin of the borg. So create a series explaning the origins of the borg.

I have been writing a series of my own Star Trek: Test Run. I t would focus around engineers, ship designers and other star ship specialist and posibly each season the main crew would be working on a one big ship project. Howver I would love to see a show focused on CSI type of stories. Basicaly the Inteligence show it would be great. But star trek needs more kids or a main cast that involves around families it would be cool.

I too have been writing my own series. It was for an rpg on another site at first but when that didnt start up i carried on with the story anyway and i have wrote the first season so far. Mine is about a federation starship crew that are exploring space and then due to a certain series of events, a war starts with a new species and the federation forges an alliance with another new species they have come across, because alone the federation doesnt stand a chance. Its written like Babylon 5 is. Where something is mentioned in one episode then you see more of it and it get cluded a few episodes down the road just as everyones forgetting about it.

With the whole borg idea i think it would be good to actually see some of the borg defense design teams that are working on the new weapons systems and starships which we later see in DS9. That would be very interesting to see the defiants origins in more detail etc. Plus the aftermath of the battle. That would be an excellent thing to see...
