Well, the site has been here for four years, but there was an on going star trek show there during all that time, now that there isn't anything left other than reruns I would have to say that the site will die out within one to two years tops.

Well, it looks like STV.com will have a pretty good future. Wireless communication is going to be around a little longer than wired communication . . . venture capital funding is a complex business but I'm sure they've got a good person at the head. . . .

Oh, you mean this website. I don't think there's much reason to worry. It's one of the most stable communities I've ever seen, I'm sure it will be around for a long time. I doubt it will last a century because as the Internet changes, so will the websites on the Internet.

LOVE IT NICE ONE.........

but personaly I dont thin the fact that there are no shows going are will stop this site, this site has been around like said for 4 years now, and in that time a lot of people have become very close friends.

and heavan forbid that morphey dares get sick of this place, the users I am sure would simple all goto a new site exactly the same as this one not for the fact of trek more for simply to be a community like we are all here.

Pretty good, if you see how many members there are joining every day, and how much active posters STV gains. I think it has a pretty good future, as long as Star Trek has a future, and as long as those series stay popular!

It's important to remember that Trek is not the be all and end all here. Chit Chat, World News and Sci-Fi are three very popular forums here. Take a look at, say, the MLB topic in "Chit Chat" - see how many replies it has got. People here enjoy talking about different stuff.

Personally, I think I've said all I'm going to say on Trek here. If a new series appears, a new film is made, and books are released, I will of course participate in any discussions. But, even after only 19 months here, I think I've taken part in every possible Trek discussion.

This community will thrive for years to come.

I honestly don't know. I'm worried about how the site is going to tell you the truth. I've seen very disturbing topics that definitly would not fit under intelligent discussions...

I find that at least useful. I was regarding the topics like "Who would Janeway make out with?"

Not everyone wants to discuss "Serious intelligent" topics. That is sooo boring. If all people talked about here were those types of topics, this site would fail.

Ugghh... how boring.

/\ If we had more "serous intelligent" topics, we would attract a more intelligent audience, and then there would be less fights, because intelligent people think before they speak.

I think this site will be around for quite sometime.

I disagree. If we were to bore ourselves with ONLY intelligent conversations everyone would fight and argue. Because everyone believes thier point of view is correct. Take Founder, and RM for example ... those two are both smart guys and always seem to be in the middle of most of the arguments that go on.

I agree with having more intelligent conversations to a certain extent. But this site can not be all serious and stuff. It would lose too many users. I would leave if it weren't a place for me to go and talk to people about Star Trek and other events in my life and the world.

The website is a "Friendly Discussion" Forum... not a "Boring Intelligent" Forum.

I have to agree with Zero. This board is for everybody. Everybody is special in their own way. I love STV and hope to be apart of the board a long time.

I have serious conversations on this site. And some are more personal than others, but there is no need to try to take every bit of fun out if it. This website grew based on being so active and fun. There are certain places for seriousness, Like WN.

*gives example of the new super serious way*

Annette: "Hello, did happen to catch that game winning homer last night?"
Theresa: "WHAT? Why are you being so informal? This is your last warning!" (yes I did)
Annette: "I'm sorry."

lol, you can't be serious!

You do prove a point about it, but understand that the alternative to "Who would Janeway get nasty with on VOY" does not automatically mean it will be boring. Intelligence doesn't mean boring. It doesn't have to be formal either, but a lot of the topics are spam and are quite frankly embarrassing to new members. Maybe it is ok to have ONE "Who should Janeway be in love with." but I've seen three at the same time and all three had like 10 pages. Thats ridiculous. I've seen very good thought provoking topics and they make it to 2 pages, but the Janeway getting it on*Shudders from the image* makes it to like 20 pages. Thats just disturbing. Thankfully the VS topics have died out, but I remember when there was a new one literally every day! Those topics made it to like 30 pages too. To be fair, I did post in those topics and argued with many people. I'm just saying, it seems wrong that thought provoking topics die after 2 pages, but Janeway knocking boots, three topics at the same time, will all make it to 30 pages.

Look at the site lately. When I first joined, literally every section had a topic that had been posted in. WN was this intense arena for debate. New RPGS were being made nearly daily. Now its died down a lot. The only topics I see are those Janeway and Chakotay topics. Those aren't bad topics, but I believe it is putting a lot of new members off.

Actually, it was "stop spamming". Now cut it out.

Not really true. I don't understand how you all keep equating intelligence with boredom. If topics that make you think are boring, then maybe you're in the wrong site.
