PostSun Jun 26, 2005 3:06 am    Mutant X

Anyone watch mutant x? I love it and personally can't get enough!

For those of you who don't know, it's about people who have been genetically altered at birth which accidentally produced powers. There are four types of mutant: Molecular, Psionic, Feral and Elemental.

If you've never watched it before, I totally suggest you do cos it's really good. Unfortunately, it was cancelled a while ago, but thanks to some really brilliant people, it's gonna be renewed for a fourth season in august - as long as everything goes according to plan.

But yay! It's coming back!!! Yay!

I thought it was appaling... but one good episode had spinal fluid being tapped, and that made me think of the band Spinal Tap.

It's on my "to watch" list. Victoria Pratt is the main reason why.

Seriously, I've never seen it. I know it has NO connection to the X-Men from Marvel Comics, but are there any similarities apart from the fact that both teams are mutants?

Not really. I mean, I guess the set out is the same - both mutants, both battling evil - but the reason why they got their powers is totally different. Plus, the action, script and guys are a lot better!

Thanks. I'm heading off to Blockbusters later to see if they've got a discount boxset. It does sound interesting.

Oh come on, how can mutant X be better than X men? That's like saying Wormhole X-treme would be as good as Stargate Sg1!

It is an ok show. I watch when nothing else is on. Sometimes I find it interesting.

Mutant X is like Relic Hunter... you only watch it because nothings really on and you feel you should be using the cable you pay for.

mutant x is probably the worst show ever thought up. Its a terrible rip-off from X-men.

Its even worse then Andromeda.

Mutant X is a ridiculous bastardization of the comic book.

The comic book was about Havok (a.k.a. Alex Summers, Cyclops' younger brother), being trapped in a dark, alternate reality in which Magneto is the leader of the X-Men, and Havok is the leader of a dark, alternate version of X-Factor, known as The Six. The Six comprised of Bloodstorm (which was Storm, who had been bitten by a vampire). Madelyne Pryor (whom he was married to in this reality, and had a child named Scott with). Ice-Man, who cannot touch anyone ebcause he freezes anything he touches. The Brute, who is Beast, but has lost most of his intelligence in his mutation. And The Fallen, who was once Angel, but his wings have become that of a bat. The series was about Havok's adventures leading The Six, while trying to figure out a way back into his own reality.

It's obviously Marvel, considering the characters I mentioned it starred. It was published from 1998-2002. I picked up issue one when it was first released, because back then I basically bought every #1 I saw.

So it has the same name. Twas a mistake. Anyway, if no one sued for use of the name and the almost obvious storyline then what's wrong with that?

Anyway, if you don't like Mutant X, what are you doing in this topic section?

you already asked that, and i already answerd.

anyways, now that i know it was an original comic from marvel of it i have gained more respect for it. But i believe the show is really bad, its just looks wrong with X-men already circling around.

Marvel produces the show, it was created by Avi Arad. My point is it's a bastardization of the name Mutant X (which was a good comic book) because Marvel took the name, yet made the show something completely different and basically a rip off of their own product (X-Men), to the point that Fox actually sued Marvel because of it's simularities to the X-Men movies.

When you look at the picture of the comic you see:
Storm on the left top.
magneto underneath her.
too the right iceman or morph,
cyclops or again iceman but then in normal form in the front right.
too the most right Rogue.
and at the bottom left Beast.

Its a rip-off since its suppose too be a different universe but no relation too the X-men at all.

Alternate universe are cmmon too X-men (like the age of apocalypse) but they are clearly related too the X-men themselves, mutant X is not.

OH MY GOD! Can you even read!? First off, I explained who the main characters are (left to right: Bloodstorm, The Fallen, The Brute, Ice-Man, Havok, Madelyne Pryor), you clearly know nothing about comic books. Secondly, THE TV SHOW, are you reading this? The TV show is Marvel ripping off their own property (X-Men), the TV show despite the name has nothing in common with the Mutant X comic book. However, the Mutant X TV is a blatant attempt at trying to make an X-Men TV show without Fox being involved. Thus they ripped off their own product.

Jesus Christ man.
