I remember a few times it actually sealed me into a few areas. Like the Shyyrack caves on Korriban: after a few hours of looking for something to open the door and consulting several internet guides, I finally had to cheat to get out of the area. Then the same thing happened again in a few other places.

That sucks, reminds me of a time when every time I went to a new planet I was trapped in one room on the Ebon Hawk where the door was just a black wall and there was no way out. I never managed to complete that game. I hope KOTOR III has few or no bugs at all.

I read something about it, that Obsidian was making it and some other stuff. I don't think the source was a good one, but I'll bet they do make it. They'd better... *gets his torch and pitchfork ready*

Maybe we should dress up as Sith and run in with fake lightsabers and beat them all to death That'd be kinda fun, I guess... y'know... sort of... heh

Hi all - sorry for having to revive a topic that has been, if not dead, dormant.

I'm looking at getting an XBOX and if I do, the Knights of the Old Republic games certainly look very shiny.

I just wondered, story-wise, do you need to have played the first game...well first?

Which is the better game? Should I start with the first - in my experience sequels of games are often better.

I'm pretty much relying on you to advise me as to which one I should get (if any).

Similarly, and I know this topic possibly isn't the place - is Republic Commando any good?

I suppose you don't really have to play the first one first, since the main characters are different, but it would make more sense to play the first one first. Both are awesome, and I prefer the second one. Most others probably like the first one better since Bioware had plenty of time to get it done, where Obsidian only had about 1 year to make the second one. It also has a better story than the second. I have to recommend getting the first one. It quickly became the most addictive game I'd ever played, but that was January of 2004 so I'm mostly over that now but I still play it now and then.

I've played Republic Commando, I have it and don't like it very much but you should get some other opinions before you consider getting that one.

Do the KOTOR games take a long time to complete?

I was watching a few trailers of Republic Commando and I can't work out if I like the look of it or not. It looks more like Halo than Star Wars...

The first time playing either one can take a while. Right now I can beat both games in one day if I feel like it, but when I started it took a little under a week to beat the first one I think. It took a couple days to beat the second one when I first got it. On both I was playing it all the time and looking for sidequests to do. So it probably shouldn't take you more than a week to beat one for the first time.
