He met the height requirement. It was a freak accident, nobody is to blame.

I see it this way the parent let the kid ride it so she is at fault not the park the park has warnings and guidelines.

Why are people pointing fingers? It was obviously some kind of physiological problem. It's a rare sad freak accident. Nobody is to blame.

Ok, cars kill FAR more people each year. Is it the parents fault for letting the kids go in these machines? And before you say it's a similar analogy. Both have risks, but most of the time they arre safe.

Its no fault of the parents, they couldn't have known, and the kid did meet the minimum requirments. I've been on the ride, its awesome, and I took my little brother on it with me, he's FINE.

Actually, it IS the fault of the parents. They should have known better, asked about it, and everything. Just because a kid meets the minimum requirements doesn't mean that the parents should let them on.
It was the parents' fault, and they were STUPID.

I agree with you RM!

I know me too. Cars do not have nothing to do with this. Parents should have made a better judgement call when it came to their child.

Called good parenting skills and parents instinicts.

Yes it does. Jeremy is right. Cars kill many many many more people per year than rollercoasters do. You only hear of a few deaths on rollercoasters per year. Every time I turn on the news someones died in a car accident. So if you're pinning blame on this parent for letting her kid ride on a rollercoaster, then you can pin 10,000 times that blame on yourself for letting your kids ride in a car. You may say that you're a safe driver, but not everyone else is and there is no guarentee that someone driving next to you isn't going to be drunk, or fall asleep, or not be paying attention or doing some other crazy things. I've seen people do things in a car that you wouldn't believe.

The child met the minimum hieght requirements. I am not sure, but if the child did not violate any of the other guidelines for who can ride that ride, I do not see how you can claim the parents made a bad call. Because, if this is the case, they did make sure that their childs safety would be insured.

Exactly, The height requirement is there for a reason. These people did many many many tests to figure this out, and if they meet this requirment, they should have been fine. LightningBoy is right, it was just a freak accident, no one's to blame.

Requirements aren't all that a parent should look for

Cars are different because this ride is QUITE an ACCURATE SPACE simulation. They should know better.
Cars are not that. And yes, 65,000 people die of car accidents in this country--that's 65 times the amount killed in Iraq (and yet anti-war activists keep going to that). But that's a space simulation where they should have had more care. Cars have been in use for years and years and there are very many ways to keep safe.

RM, I've BEEN on the ride. I KNOW what its like. But I wonder if you've ever been in a severe car accident. I found the accident to be MUCH worse than the ride. The ride is quite controlled, your car ride isn't. The difference between a rollercoaster and a car are the tracks and the engine.

Oh, and out of curiosity, what else are the parents supposed to ask about?

Is it TRULY safe for a 4 year old? And even if they did say yes, I still wouldn't have put my kid on that ride. No, I haven't been in a car accident yet, but nonetheless, the parents should have been wiser. But you could be right--it could be a fluke. Now, how old's your brother?

At the moment he's 6. He'll be 7 on September 11th. But at the time, he was 4.
