|
WWE fans will know what I am talking about.
Is anyone here looking forward to it? I used to like ECW very much. However, whilst this event may be good, it will be produced by WWE. Remember, the real ECW is a memory. Hopefully, Paul Heyman will have creative control over the event.
Some matches have been announced, so check out http://www.wwe.com/shows/ecw/matches.jsp
Hopefully, a lot of care will be taken to present this as though it were a bona fide ECW card and not a watered down version of the original ECW.
EDIT - Don't forget to check out http://www.hardcorehomecoming.com which will be an ECW reunion event on June 10th (not produced by WWE). The main event will feature Sabu VS Terry Funk VS Shane Douglas. Did anyone ever see the match they had at ECW's The Night The Line Was Crossed on February 5th, 1994 - it was awesome. I doubt they'll top the original on June 10th, though.
Why, oh why, did ECW go bust?

It was a good promotion, if a little violent. But it was revolutionary and it gave WCW and WWE a lot of ideas that they used to soar to great heights.

I'm not gonna order it live, I might buy the DVD though if it turns out to be a good show.

I'm a bit concerned about the event now because it looks like WWE wrestlers will feature prominently - I thought this was supposed to be an ECW reunion show with the only WWE involvement being the financing and production of the event.
We shall see what happens but I really do think the only wrestlers who should appear on it are former ECW wrestlers and current WWE wrestlers who used to wrestle for ECW.

For anyone that is interested, the results can be found below:
http://www.wwe.com/shows/ecw/
It was a great PPV, real true to the spirit of ECW. WWE, who financed the PPV obviously, outdid themselves. It had great matches in which every wrestler gave 110%, Joey Styles commentary enhanced the PPV, it was violent in true ECW spirit and it had a feelgood ending which every PPV should have. I can't rate it enough and I look forward to the DVD.

Never watched UFC...ever!
I do fancy taking a look sometime but there are only so many hours in the day. I might rent out a DVD when time permits - is there any particular UFC event you would recommend for a first time viewer?

Well in order to enjoy UFC you have to have an understanding and respect for the skills they posess.
Some people think of it as two men rolling on the floor hugging... But really, if they knew any better they would be able to see the particular submission moves they were trying to lock in.
Maybe just get some UFC greatest knockouts.

Not me. I never judge any sport at face value (if UFC can be described as a sport). What I do know about it is that it takes a lot of skill.
I'll take a look in the video rental store sometime.
Who's your favourite, Annette?

Hey, as it's you recommending it, I'll give it a try.
Are you into any other combat sports?

I also watch K-1. But I like UFC way more !
But like I said, Vitor Belfort is my favorite fighter because he is always so brave and will always give his all. He goes balls out and that really gets a lot of respect from me.
(not to mention I am way attracted to him)

Well, One Night Stand rocked!!! Haha WWE guys, you couldn't even ruin one of the best nights for ECW. However, as Dentist said, the true ECW is a memory...so R.I.P ECW, R.I.P. :'(
