What do you think the national anthems for different countries should be? List your suggestions and why.

England/Britain
Rule Britannia (because the queen is becoming obselete)
God Save The Queen by The Sex Pistols (it's a classic)
We Are The Champions by Queen (very patriotic)

America-
Americana by The Offspring (just listen to the lyrics)
American Idiot by Green Day (it will incourage intelligence throughout the nation)
Chop Suey by SOAD (well, it's a personal favourite and should be in all politcal movies)

France
All You Need Is Love by The Beatles (the opening bars are the same)
The Phantom of The Opera (it's set in Paris)

Yeah, but it's probably more fun to be a drunken sailor than British.

That just DISGUSTS me--that is, American idiot. I don't know the others, but...American Idiot is a HORRIBLE, offensive song. The national anthem that we have now is perfect. But American Idiot....Hell would freeze over and tomorrow would be the next ice age before that would be appropriate.

No, I WON'T relax, because unlike you, I'm a patriotic American who doesn't like things that are anti-American. Besides, you got overblown by my Lib joke in that one topic.

Yeah... some people don't like Lobster Backs telling us about our own country. Especially since they're just mad that we won the war.

I'm not American but there is one song that would suit your anthem.

"Real American" sung by Rick Derringer and made famous thanks to Hulk Hogan, former WWF wrestler. I am being serious, by the way.

Listen to the lyrics or read the lyrics - it's all about rising from adversity and fighting for what is right.

I live in England but I love many countries. America is one I do love. I love your entrepreneurial spirit, your "never say die" attitude in the face of adversity and your altruism throughout history.

If any American here can track down the lyrics to "Real American", please listen to them and tell me what you think.

^The lyrics to your song:
Quote:

When it comes crashing down and it hurts inside you gotta take a stand
it dont hurt to hide if you hurt my friends then you hurt my pride i gotta
be a man i cant let it slide

Chorus
I am a real American fight for the rights of every man Im a real American
fight for what's right fight for your life

I feel strong for very long I dont take trouble for very long Ive got something
deep inside of me courage is the thing that sets us free

Repeat chorus x 2

If you hurt my friends then you hurt my pride I gotta be a man i cant let
them slide

I also kinda think that these are kind of fitting for an American National Anthem:

Quote:
It's been a long road
Getting from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near

And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothings in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No there not gonna hold me down

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

It's been a long night
Trying to find my way
Been through the darkness
Now I finally have my day
I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No there not gonna change my mind

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

I've known a wind so cold and seen the darkest days
But now the winds I feel are only winds of change
I've been through the fire and I've been through the rain
But I'll be fine

Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

Faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
That no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart

Its been a long road

Really though, I like the one that we have right now best .

Quote:
Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau The Land Of My Fathers

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi, The land of my fathers, the land of my choice,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri; The land in which poets and minstrels rejoice;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra md, The land whose stern warriors were true to the core,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed. While bleeding for freedom of yore.
Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad. Wales! Wales! fav'rite land of Wales!
Tra mr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau, While sea her wall, may naught befall
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau. To mar the old language of Wales.
Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd, Old mountainous Cambria, the Eden of bards,
Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn i'm golwg sydd hardd; Each hill and each valley, excite my regards;
Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si To the ears of her patriots how charming still seems
Ei nentydd, afonydd i mi. The music that flows in her streams.
Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwald tan ei droed, My country tho' crushed by a hostile array,
Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ac erioed, The language of Cambria lives out to this day;
Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad, The muse has eluded the traitors' foul knives,
Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad. The harp of my country survives.

There is this Welsh song called "Gwena" ("Smile") that would be a totally good replacement, but, unsurprisingly, I couldn't find the lyrics online anywhere,

Well, as long as you don't start forcing your believes on others i guess.

If we had to go with another one, I agree with Puck--the theme to Enterprise is a nice, uplifting song. American dreamish.

I think we should have replaced God Save The Queen with Rule Britannia ages ago.
