Wrong totally.

Second sentence looked better than the first.

First sentence, there is a misspelled word. and a comma is misplaced.

In the second the comma is misplaced too. the 'and' replaces the comma. It shows the last of the list comes after it.

I was always taught that commas before an "and" in a list were optional. I used to never use them there, though now I've begun to.

Well, then you read sentence a lot different than me. In the first Sentence i read that each of the named people all get $25,000. If the person wanted the latter 2 to get more or lest then you have to make another sentence.
BTW, both sentence gives each person the same amount of money. if wilma and Betty get $50,000 Together its the same as getting $25,000 each Whether you have a comma or not. |

That's exactly how it would be, you don't seem to know commas very well  That's how it would legally be read. And actually, I made a mistake: they would get $25,000, and the other $25,000 would just, well, disappear. And not necessarily about them getting 25,000 each.

It could, in a way, but really, not. You very well do need the comma.

Just because you breathe before the "and" when you say it doesn't mean it should have a comma.
Believe me, this is fundamental grammar that has been reinforced every year of my education life. I'll even get my English teacher on here to argue it out if you'd like.

I've had English teachers for years saying that we should use a comma before the and or that it's optional, but even if they say it's optional, then they all say that it's better to do that.

Maybe it's an American thing then. Afterall, you do spell colour wrong. You also say "faucet" (?) instead of tap, pants instead of trousers, jelly instead of jam, gello instead of jelly, chunky fries instead of chips, chips instead of crisps...
English and American are like Portugeuse and Spanish. They are similar but different languages, so of course our grammar and spelling differs.

Today my son brought home a frog. He threw at his little sister and then ran. He loves to tease, pick, fight, and have fun. On the other hand, he is a lovable little boy.

Sure, sure, but we still call it English It's not two languages. It's different DIALECTS of that language, because even in the US we have differences in wording. However, we're right, even though our language came from you guys 
(Although we do call water from faucets "tap water," and some here do call it tap )

Today my son brought home a frog. He threw it at his litter sister and ran. He loves to tease, pick-on, fight, and have fun. However, he is a loveable little boy.

You also missed out "it" inbetween "threw" and "at". And you don't really need the comma before the "and" at the end of the list.

Now that's what we were debating--the comma. I think my friend put that there with good reason, and was right in dowing that. Plus, I fixed those things in my post.

Oh, and it is two languages. English and American Variation English (AVE). It just hasn't been made official yet. If I had a real life conversation with you, you probably wouldn't understand what I was saying.

No, it's not two languages, or at least I won't say that it is until it's official. Maybe you British call it that, but I say we speak ENGLISH, but our wordings are a bit different. It's just a bit more extreme than the differences in Mexican and Argentinian Spanish

I know, but nonetheless it's STILL English, and I have yet to be taught BY A TEACHER that that's not the language we speak, therefore I will not call it AVE or whatever the hell it is until then. Simple as pie.
