Yeah, he was spiffy. Then he got himself shot.... like fifty times.

I'm only really just getting into Stargate but I'm a real fan of Atlantis now. Have just seen the two-parter "The Storm"/"The Eye" and thought it was really good!
Just wondered, how long is SG-1 expected to run for? It's in it's ninth season now isn't it? What's the longest that any weekly TV show has run for? Because surely SG-1 must be getting close?

Next season (season 9) will tie SG-1 with the X-Files for the longest-running science fiction television series.
I think that season 9 is probably going to be its last season, but I have not heard anything definite about that. I could see it conceivably going into its tenth or eleventh season. Frankly, however, I'd rather see it end after season 9 if a tenth season means more departing cast members and less creative episodes.

American TV series. Doctor Who ran for something like 20 seasons---and it's recently been resurrected for more.

Season 8 isn't as good as most of the others, but I think that's because the budget was spent on Atlantis.

I agree in general (no pun intended) but upon watching some of the episodes, my opinion has changed.
I think that the storylines are starting to go downhill, because the show is reincorporating too many running gags and not really introducing a lot of new life and vitality. I just saw "Reckoning, Part 2" and then the preview to "Threads," and I've decided that although Season 8 is not the best season, some of these episodes are the most riveting and pleasing of the entire series.

ya i agree but you have got to admit that season 8 has one of the best jokes, when there not at the base, or in action

I think more Vala Malduran time is great on the show.
Dr. Lam is a great character.
I really like Ben Browders character Cameron because he is a fun character to watch.
I would however like too see Daniel Jackson visit the Pegasus Galaxy.

The last episode was totally predictable. That storyline is so overused.

" Hallowed are the Ori " On every episode.
I know the Ori thing is being overused by you know they did the same thing with the Goa'uld. The Goa'uld were seen or at least metioned in almost every episode prior to the Ori's arrivals.
I'd say to the priors " Hallowed are the Priors not the Ori "

I find the Ori more scary than the Goa'uld for some reason.

I think a bunch of serpents trying to convince you as there god is scarier than the Ori wanting you to pray or die.

Since I never saw the ep where Jacob died, I have the following question.
Why did Jacob die when Selmak did, yet Sam didn't die when Jolinar did?
