PostWed May 25, 2005 6:03 pm    Do you feel like you fit in?

I don't know if this was ever a topic before but here goes.

Do you feel like the need to fit in with people , in order for them to like you? If you are not like them, they just ignore you and you feel lonely.

I am not starting this as a debate or anything. Just some advise. I always was told just be yourself. But, sometimes that does not work.

What do you think?

Intresting topic, Deb..

I guess it all depends on what people think of you. If you have people that love you and are there for you, some may fit in. I have friends and people that love me, but I still feel like I don't fit in because I really don't.

Thats just me though..

I think that I fit in here pretty well, I have great friends on here and I don't have to change for them to like me!

I fit in DECENTLY, but yet am very different from others. However, I do NOT need to fit in in order for people to like me, IMO, because I care more about being myself than being liked. I act like I am, and am HATED by several people simply because of that. But it doesn't usually get to me. I don't know if what I'm saying quite makes sense, but meh...

I do not fit in any where but in sci fi fora's like here or my site but i do not really care if i fit in or not. The way i see it is if a person wants to change you then that is not a good freind.

Yeah I agree. I was a little down today cause a ex-friend thinks I should be the way she is or I am not cool. i told her, I am 30 yrs old and I am not acting like a five year old. She is 22. so lost one friend but I got real ones on here. Well good thing that girl moving anyway from downstairs. her husband and her are going to CA. I thought she was good at first.

She acted so mature during the first month of friendship. But I know now who my real friends are. Friends that are mature and takes me as I am.

I was a little depressed about this sorry. Justed needed to talk to someone.

Fitting in is such a misnomer. You can never fully "fit in". If you fit with group A, you don't with group B, and so on. So, "be yourself" really is good advice, If people don't like you, screw 'em, How unladylike of me,

Very good point T! I feel like i fit in different places, in different ways, with a different "role" at each of those places. *shrugs* if i don't fit in, i'm not a part of that group whether it be work, school, or dance. I'm not gonna be miserable. So i fix the problem and find someplace where i do fit!

I've always been myself and could always fit in where I want to. Granted, I'm a good judge of character and know where I don't want to fit in, so I don't try. I figure... if you're yourself and people don't accept you for that, then those people aren't really worthy of your friendship.

And yes, I will admit, I need to work on the other side of that and accept people for who they are... I'm more of a judge than an acceptor. But... in time. I'm learning.

I also look at like this like some others been saying too. If they can't accept me for who I am as a person, then they are not my real friends. I feel like trying to fit just to make people like you sometimes don't work. I tried that.

People don't like me cause I speak my mind but not meaning to bash in anyway shape or form. They don't like me either for what I believe in. But I am a person with feelings and just a person. People also don't like me cause I may not spell like they do and expect me to be perfect. I feel like , I am not perfect in anyway, and noone is.

Well I guess that's just life.

Be yourself and do not worry what everybody else thinks of you. Those who are your true friends, will accept you for who you are.

If people don't like me or think I'm weird, that's up to them. I'm not stopping them, but that also gives me the right to think that they're idiots. So, if you don't like me, I probably don't like you either, and that's that.

The biggest problem I have is that I don't know who I am, so how can I be myself?

It's kind of hard not to fit in in my school. But I guess if anything it is hard to fit in with other majors at my school. We are all very different from each other, it's weird.

I can fit in anywhere I go. Moving to Los Angeles was a hard transition because the people here are so different. So mean, and rude. But in highschool I had tons of friends and they varied from all different types. I would always befriend someone new... I hated that feeling when I would go toa new school.

There are, however, girls that did not like me. Everyone said they were jealous, But I could care less.

I'm really a nerd at heart!

I'm not anti goth. But I didn't fit in with the goths. I didn't fit in with the bimbos. Even now, I don't fit in with the nerds. I suck

Make your own kind of group. That's what I'd do.

It's a bit hard to make a group with one member.
