George Lucas said outright that he's not making anymore movies. But he is in the process of creating a television series that's schedualed to come out in 2007.
Frankly, I think Star Wars should end it before their empire falls. I think going to television will put them on the same path to downfall as Star Trek did when it keelhauled the reign of the TV SciFi kingdom with Enterprise. Star Wars will only remain a legend if that's what it continues to be. A TV show will destroy that, as will any other movies.

Agreed. A TV series makes me nervous, but I do think that if they DO make anything new for film, it should be like Sith War-era or something like that.
Like I'm thinking this: bring back the Empire directors or have Steven Spielberg come to direct. Have authors of the books, like Kevin J. Anderson (especially him, since he co-wrote the Essential Chronology) and Timothy Zahn, write the script(s), working perhaps with the KOTOR creators if they made a KOTOR movie, but I don't know about that movie exactly...But I would like to see some old Jedi stuff. It would be cool. Oh, and unfortunately have George Lucas executive produce or just produce to be able to make the expenses cheaper and get a more credited person on there.

Big debate at school? LOL, most people at my school, it seems, don't like Star Wars.

But don't have Lucas make it. It may be his own original creation, but he knows NOTHING about the expanded universe and only about the prequals, originals, and in-between III and IV. Nothing else, so he shouldn't be more than an executive/regular producer (mostly executive, for cost cuts).

Just because George Lucas said there won't be more Star Wars movies doesn't mean that thats true. He said the same thing about Indiana Jones and an Indiana Jones 4 is in the works.
As I've said before, I'm not too big on the idea of a tv show. I think it would be more cool if it was like Ep. III, more adultish. So maybe they can have the tv show on HBO? That way I don't have to sit through freaking commercials or the show won't have limitations. If its on UPN, we won't be seeing any hands come off.

I just LOVE that! Because, well, it's SO NOT. I mean, look at Episode III--I don't see how ANYONE could find that boring.

BURN THEM!!!!!!! THEY'RE A WITCH!!!! BURN THEM!!! WE MUST BURN THEM!!!!!! STAR WARS HATERS MUST BE BURNT!!!!
too much sugar.... sorry guys
My friend said that when's he's older he's going to hold George Lucas hostage till he makes another star wars film with me in... that would be cool.
You know the saga's complete, yeah, wouldn't it ruin it to watch them all in order? I think you're SUPPOSED to start with episode 4, otherwise it just sucks... although if you started with episode 1 you could cheer whne you got to episode 4 and found out that Jar Jar no longer existed *shudder*

There was supposed to be 9 star wars films altogether but there is no new info on any more films.
They are filming a Star Wars TV shows in autralia. Filming will begin in June this year. the episodes will be 1 hour long.
Also with the sucess of Clone Wars (Cartoon) they are going to make another series. Accept this is going to be a 3D animated series set between episode III & Episode IV. These episodes will be half an hour long.
In my opinion. I think they should stop star wars now. It is at its peak with millions if not billions of fans. It should quite while its ahead. It would be horrible to see it go down the drain.

Apparently the title of the CGI show will be called "The Clone Wars" though it's the live action show that I'm looking forward to. It'll either be really good or just end up spoiling the whole franchise.
I also agree however that they need to be aware of overkill when they're making these series.

The show between Episodes III and IV will be live action. That could be what they're filming in Australia.
Also, the CGI show IS the Clone Wars show, but I HATED that.
I agree that they should quit while they're ahead, and not end up like Star Trek--with something ruining it.
And there was NEVER supposed to be 9 episodes. Your sources are wrong

Thye should re-make episodes IV, V and VI. Get better actors for them and do their best on Special Effects and better character Development.

No, no, no. They simply should NOT remake episodes IV-VI. It's just not right. Besides, the acting in the originals is good.
And on the TV series...
www.starwars.com/report on Lucas' speech at Celebration III wrote: | Not the first question, but probably the one most anticipated by fans was about the future of Star Wars on television. "You know we're doing a pilot television series now called Clone Wars," said Lucas. "Well we're going to take that and turn it into a 3-D animated version full series." Lucas described the episodes as being 30 minutes in length.
"We're also working on a spin-off series," he added, "with some characters who have appeared before that will be a live action series. We're probably not going to start that for about a year. Like on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, we want to write all the stories for the entire first season all at once. I'm going to get it started, and hire the show runners and all of that, then I'll probably step away." Even host Jay Laga'aia had a hard time concentrating after that news.
Elaborating on the television series' setting in the chronology of the saga, Lucas explained that the idea currently in development takes place between Episodes III and IV. "There's none of the main characters from I, II, and III (or IV, V and VI for that matter) in the..." he stopped in mid-sentence. "Well, actually, that's not exactly true now that I think about it. We haven't really started the TV show, so it's hard to answer. There's a lot of issues that are connected, but you won't necessarily see a lot of the people that are connected."
A fan asked the chances of exploring the KOTOR-era Jedi or the origins of the Sith on TV, and Lucas stated that if the television projects are successful, he would examine the possibility of moving elsewhere in the saga. |
