Fri Oct 12, 2001 8:11 pm Will trek technology ever be real? |
|
I've been wondering if anybody out there thinks what I think and that is that someday our scientists will invent Star Trek technology, especially the technology that was on the U.S.S. Voyager, which would be really cool I think and if they do I hope I would get to the Captain of one of the ships they use it on!!!!

Perhaps, I know they are already working on some aspects like hyposprays. I wouldn't count on Warp speed in the near future, though.

I know for a fact that they are. They've alreaady been working on "no hands" piloting already, but instead piloting w/ the mind using brain waves and what not. It was on PBS 2 nights ago. It was very interesting. And they've also been working on many ways to "survive" on a planet like Mars and recycle water and make oxygen and a bunch of other things on mars too. It's quiet interesting what they're already capable of doing right now.

They've already got laser scalpels... they use them to operate on eyes and stuff.
I can't wait for hyposprays... I'm needlephobic!

Look what's happened with mobile phones, video phone, etc.
I definately think tech will improve greatly. If we carry on advancing we could probably get a lot more advanced than voyager

They say necessity is the mother of invention. Well, a while back the government had an advanced stealth plane....but it was useless if it got the least bit damp.
I sense deflectors coming......

Isn't a tricorder just a small complex diagnostic tool? I'm sure we can combine what we have now into smaller diagnostic tools, and eventually into a tricorder!
BTW: I don't think we will ever have dilithium, because it's very unlikely that such a mineral will exsist out there.

Dilithium, (Li2), is does not easily bond. The bond order would only be 0.5 if I'm not mistaken. Plus, there are other considerations---I'm sure it can be made experimentally, but for it to occur naturally would be unlikely.

The idea behind dilithium is sound even if the physical
chemistry would dictate a different elemental source.
The need for a different fuel source to approach the
speed of light is real. Just think how the World Spacestation
is going to change our possibilities by building starship
"dry docks" in orbit rather than expending the total fuel load
necessary to get an interplanetary spaceship through the
Earth's gravity!

They are also releasing the same type of Video-Cell-Phone as a watch...this will be released in 1 month from now...Thats just 2 items of hundreds of thousands planned to be released between 2001-2002!
