No, this is NOT about the candy
Alright, folks. With the changed definition of what used to constitute a nerd (at least from what I've always thought as the classic definition), I have come to realize and begun to accept that I am somewhat a nerd.
But I was wondering: who her would say that they are a nerd? Do you "have a life," or not?
Here's me: I would guess that I'm a decent nerd, perhaps, but I DO have a life. I am a Black Belt in TaeKwonDo, I take guitar lessons, I do Speech and Debate, I hang out with friends, etc.
So, what about YOU?
And what classifies one as a "nerd?"

I'm a nerd. i sit behind a computer all day, i play Chess and like Sci-Fi.
Plus i have a Nerd hairdo. I might not look as nerdy as Bill Gates but it comes close .
Nerds are smart too mostly, i think that really defines a nerd.

My definition of a nerd and a geek-
Nerd (noun)- a person who has tendencies to wish that aspects of fantasies, usually from a film TV show or video game, are real. Nerds seek to make this fantacy a reality by sharing their view with others online, acting the fantacy out (role playing) and playing a video for obessive amounts of time util thier brain is tricked into believing it is real. Nerds also enjoy time tinkering with pieces of electronic equipment. Jobs nerds have include shop assistant in a game or video store, computer programmer, logistics supervisor, dungeon master and admin on Star Trek forums. Twenty or so years ago, all nerds were male, but nowadays a range of women have been known to become nerds and even have nerdy children who they give names like Angelius and Luke. If nerds get round to having a pet, it's usually a cat, snake or sea monkeys
Geek (noun)- a person who is obsessed with improving reality through science. Your average geek knows a lot of pointless trivia about the human body and the life span of flies. They have been know to conduct experiments in their own home, including leaving cheese to go moudly on their window sill and watching people in the park as they eat their genetically engineered watermelon. Geeks like to eat freeze dried food as it reminds them of their failed dream to become an astronaught. Many geeks end up with scientific degrees and work in labs torturing rats or looking at urine samples. Some of them are strangely religious, even though they like science, and will give their children names such as Ruth and Simon. Their favourite pets are stick insects, tropical fish and any small rodent you can run through a maze.
Now, this is where it all gets tricky. My mother, very much a geek- she's a microbiologist and comes homw reeking of disinfectant and science. My father, a logistics supervisor, probably fits in the catogory of "nerd with geekish tendencies". He used to write me Q basic games, but he also does origami, which is more geeky.

I'm an "in the closet" nerd. I have a lot of friends, and go to a lot of parties... clubs things like that.
But when I get home int he early morning, I want to watch star trek! Nobody would ever guess I like STV. Everyone who goes in my room and takes a look at my dvd collections are kind of shocked!

Whoever voted "kind of" or "no" has a major insecurity complex... sorry, but that's just the way of it. everyone in the world is a nerd in his or her own way. Not just people who like scifi and Justin Timberlake. Seriously. It's not that big of a deal to be a nerd.
And you can be a nerd and have a life at the same time. It's really not that difficult.

Wow RM you're a black belt too? I thought I was the only one; but of course I'm sure I would still conquer you as my Kung fu skills blend so well with the sword and staff training.
By the way, doesn't Tae kwon do rely mostly on kicks?
On topic, no I'm not a nerd, I am a Ninja.
