PostMon May 09, 2005 4:31 am    CD player problem

Recently my portabale CD player has stopped playing CDs and has stopped working whatsoever. I believe this is due to water damage that it obtained when me and my friend were walking and I had it when it started to rain. I was wondering, does anyone know how this can be fixed? And if it has to be fixed professionally, what would it cost? Thanks a lot.

Look at your guarantee, it's not worth fixing I'm sure, buying a new one is cheaper I bet. Get yourself an mp3 player

your problem is most likely on the laser lense, and trust me its not worth it to fix, it would be over a hundred dollars, and you could get an awesome CD player for that much money.

^^ not exactly true. It all comes down to what company made it and what class of laser the cd player uses.

He is right when he says fixing it will cost more than buying a new one

I'm a bit late but you might want to carefully unscrew the CD player and let the water drops evaporate naturally... That's how fixed my watch once (it wasn't waterproof at all and stopped ticking when I went for a dive).

However, it's been a few days since your first post so I assume the drops have already evaporated... If it still doesn't work, I think it's best to just buy a new CD-player, perhaps even a MP3-player. It's relatively much cheaper to buy a new one than to fix the original...
