I'm astonished. |
What? If you're a Star Trek fan, Science can be the only way? Yeah but the cost maybe a little high. What if there was a 100% way to find a cure for cancer, but we had to kill 10,000,000 babies born with cancer. Would you agree to this? You could argue that the babies will die from the cancer anyways. We will free them from a life of pain. Would it still be ok? |
I would agree to it. Because they are not actual babies. If they were already born, then No I would not agree. But since we are talking about embryos here... why not?
And no, science does not have to be the only way. But at least have an open mind about things. |
WHAAAAA---!??? First off, even if it weren't a baby, it would still be a POTENTIAL baby, and yet you would permit that occuring and stopping the potential baby from being born? And 10 million (the number Founder described) is MANY. I don't see how that's FEW.
And anyways, WHAT, pray tell, was life FIRST like on Earth, hmmmm? ANSWER the question.

How the hell would I know? And how is this lame question connected to what we are talking about here?
It's an EMBRYO, not a human 3 months or older...

You should know, Ms. Science-is-almost-always-the-way-to-go. SINGLE-CELLED organisms. It is COMPLTELY relevant to this situation, because the EMBRYO is MORE than a single-celled organism. It also becomes a fetus, which can still be used for stem-cell research, and THAT shows ALL the signs of life.
My point is, looking at what life was first like on Earth, and the separation of cells, Embryos and Fetuses ARE LIFE, clear and simple.

sigh/ Ok, whatever you say. I'd rather just let you make ur point then to have to hear alllll about evolution.
And, for the record.. I know all about the single celled organisims and all about a fetus...
But wait, o ne more thing. You are sayig now that life started by a single celled organism? I though you believed GOD created us? Actually, I'd rather not know.

Do I believe in that? Essentially, yes. But does that mean that we didn't begin as single-celled organisms? No. Even creationists can believe that.

Alright...
In order to get embrionic stem cells you have to remove them before 10 days, thats when differentiation occures. Most women don't know their pregnant until 3-4 weeks.
In the case of invitro, I think that the eggs that aren't going to be kept shouldn't be wasted but used for this purpose. I mean, it may be human life, but its also going to spend eternity frozen if its not used.
