Tue May 03, 2005 5:33 pm This is not a trick question.... |
|
A woman was attending her mother's funeral and met a man she didn't
know.
She thought he was amazing: THE "dream man" and she fell in love with
him
immediately. When the funeral was over he disappeared, and the woman did
not get his phone number. Nobody knew who he was and she couldn't
contact
him. A couple of days later she killed her sister.
Now read the question below, come up with an answer and post it. This is not a trick question; a psychologist has actually
made
it up. No one I know has come up with the correct answer, not me either.
Question: What was the motive for killing her sister...?
Hint: Think like a psychopathic killer.

I know the correct answer, and didn't get it the first time, for which I am grateful, because if you do, you have psychotic tendencies.

Psh... "true answer". None of you will ever make it in the FBI... criminal profiling requires analysing every detail.
What was her motive for killing her sister? Really, the killing had nothing to do with the man she met. Granted, he was on her mind when she killed her sister, but he wasn't the part of the motive that you think he was.
Clue 1: The woman was attending her mother's funeral.
- Sister B, the one who was killed, that is, was obviously suffering from a classic Elektra Complex (parallel to a man/boy's Oedipus Complex... if you don't know what either of those are, stop reading this..."now"), one that was never completely put away in her childhood. The Elektra Complex, or "attraction to the father" puts Sister B in a postition where the mother is in the way of Sister B's wanted relationship with her father. Thus, the inevitable killing and therefore funeral of the mother. That was Sister B's doing.
Clue 2: She met a man she didn't know. She thought he was amazing.
- Sister A, the one who kills Sister B, is obviously suffering from a mix of depression, self-loathing, and an inferiority complex. Possibly to her sister (aka Sister B). Women who are not in some state of this low self esteem would not find a man who a) they just met and b) didn't know to be "amazing". Sister A would have been wise to show some kind of restraint on her part to become lost in a man she hardly knew in the first place. Much less "[fall] in love with him immediatly."
Clue 3: After the funeral, he disappeared
- The man, as a matter of fact, was not a man at all. Indeed, he was some sort of being from another plane of existence. This gives him the ability to a) disappear, b) induce murder-provoking thoughts and c) see the larger picture of the murder of Sister B altogether. (this will come into play later)
Clue 4: Nobody knew who he was.
- If nobody knew who he was, then why was he at the funeral in the first place? Well, obviously no one is going to know some "other" being unless he takes human form. But why this corporeal host at the Sisters mother's funeral? He obviously only had to know the mother. Thus suggesting some sort of secret, heavenly affair.
- A couple days pass, and Sister A has time to realize all of the following. Her mother was having an affair with a god. Her sister had an unresolved Elektra complex. She has just fallen under the same spell as her mother had, as the spirit induced some sort of love trance over her.
What it all winds up to become? The Mysterious Stranger at the Funeral did infact see the larger picture. Unless he posessed Sister A to kill Sister B, then the now-widower father would become victim to to the unresolved Elektra Complex of Sister B. In his weakened state (having just lost his wife), the father would be helpless to the crazed mindstate of Sister B.
So, he takes control of Sister A's mind, causing her to think of him so intensly that she can, indeed read his mind, or rather, he can speak to hers. Kill the sister, he finally whispers to her after these "couple days" of reflection on the siuation at hand.
Now, there obviously has to be a reason behind all of this, and that reason comes down to the father and why the spirit must take the father's daughter to take his other daughter's life.
Now, young FBI recruits, since I have brought you this far... my question to you is... who is the father and why is he so important to the larger picture of the Mysterious Funeral Attending Spirit?

*shivers* thats a little creepy ....I think I need a hug now...
or her motive was that she thought if her sister never existed then things would have been different her mother would have been left alive and there would have been no funeral, in that case the woman would never have met the mysterious man and felt the heartbreak of falling in love with him and then him dissapearing....so she killed her sister for revenge... (its a scary thought but its possible)

^^ close, but that still doesn't explain why nobody knew the man.
No seriously. I've analysed it completely ("it's right there clear as purple crayon!"). You guys haven't. And who's going to be in the FBI anyway? Me. Tchea. That's right. Now I want to know. Who is the father?

My friend Nola had this to say to my question. So far, Nola has the ultimate answer.
"Whoa Sam, that is the best riddle ever. My thought is that the father is the corporeal "son" of the disappearing God who is destined to save the world from destruction and create a "heaven on earth." However, he must remain entirely unaware of his cosmically essential role (you know, innocence). Thus the disappearing God has never made contact with him and has allowed him thus far to live out a normal suburban life. However, as we all know, there is a yin to every yang, light to dark, good to evil. The son of the God must have an evil part... embodied in (wait for it....)... HIS CHILD, SISTER B! She is the embodiment of all the forces designed to destroy all the good in human nature. Her desire to seduce (and subsequently kill) her father symbolizes her desire to corrupt all good in the world. Sister A, though obviously unaware of the huge importance of her role, is demonstrably able to sense Sister B's evil. Through the simple act of attending the funeral, the disappearing God saves his progeny from corruption, protects the father's metaphorical blindness and forges Sister A into a powerful weapon against the forces of evil! "

This is easy, she hoped the dream guy would turn up to the second funeral.
My friend told me this one and I got it first time, so watch out for Ruth Raynor on the FBI most wanted list!
How many of you know the sublininal message in the FedEx logo?

Uhm, i think it was for the death of her mother, pain, agony. Every time she saw her sister she was reminded of her mom, so she killed her too get rid of it... Nothing i can come up with about the murder that has got something to do with the mystery man.
But then again, i'm not a psychopath and i would have never come up with the fact she killed her to see the man again at her sisters funeral

ANSWER: She was hoping the man would turn up at the funeral again.
If you got the right answer, you think like a psychopath. This was a
test
from a famous American psychologist, which was used to see if you were
thinking like a murderer.
Many serial killers who participated in the test got the right answer.

Oh... my ... God. Ok, I'm not a psychopathic killer, that's for sure, I wouldn't have thought of that. But still, it's logical. If you think of it. If you're psycho, I can understand why you think that. (wanna be a social worker, so..)
But no, wouldn't have thought of that answer. Good riddle. Or, test.
