PostSat Apr 23, 2005 11:20 pm    Movie lines that become part of speech

Ex. "Hello, McFly, anyone home?" I was just reading an article about the NFL draft, and this line was in there,
Quote:
Hello, McFly? Is there anybody home at Redskins Park?

Anyone think of anymore lines that are now part of general speech?

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.", and so on.

"Go ahead, Punk, make my day." I use that one quite a lot.

I have actually said to someone "Dude, where's your car?" and they replied with "Dude, where IS MY car?" because their mum hadn't come to pick them up yet and I couldn't see their car

i actually speak Dutch in General speech . But i do use english lines sometimes. My favorite would be:

though it's not a movie line, whenever something needs to be fixed I usually say

"We can rebuild it, We have the technology. We can make it better, faster, stronger"

Er . . . isn't that from The Six Million Dollar Man? (And I haven't even seen that movie.)

I hear a lot of references to The Godfather, such as "Just when you think you're out, they pull you back in." And 2001: A Space Odyssey's "I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave," gets repeated in some form or another.

Not to mention "Beam me up, Scotty."

My favorite is "Say hello to my little friend" from Scarface

If you go up behind people and whisper "Mufassa!" in their ear like a hyena, they freak out. Good old Lion King.
Also, I love the way Obi Wan says "Possibly" in Ep2. Cracks me up everytime. 1 of my mates says it like that.

"NOOO!! Evy!! Evy! Evy, no..."
"Is she going to be alright..."
"She's gonna be fine... take... take him... Evy? No... What should I do?"
"Take care of Alex..."
"No.. Evy..."
"I love you."
"No... Evy? Evy. Evy. Evy...."

I use that one all the time.

"I am your friend!" in a Darth Vader voice gets a few odd looks now and again.

"I love you"
"I know"
That's Han and Leia from Star Wars as well.

"Charlie did it! You believe me don't you!" from Hide and Seek.

I think most of mine, actually, come from the GIJoe PSAs. But they have to be done in the high voice otherwise they don't count.

-"Aw haew (hell) no. Whassup, dawg?"
-"What the... hell?"
-"What'd he just say to us?"
-"E to the X you gotta flip is and stick it and see ya latah bye." "I 'on't think I can do that." "You betta bring it." "Whassup, you kids... I'm looking for a pink, I want to say vinyl purse."
-"uh.. ok... em... alright... eh... it's out."
-"You didn't take anything off our tent, did you?"
-"It's a wonderful experience here with the Indian."
-"If I'd been in that water, dead."
-"Porkchop sandwiches!!"
-"Betcha won't touch that button, b!tch."
"Mom, dad, you gotta come see this... ah... shiiiiiiiiiiiiit" (falling)"
-"You know kids, it's funny. These people, they go to sleep, they think everything's alright, they wake up, they're on fire."

In my group of frineds, those are all very common lines. Not to mention... the all encompassing "awkward pause" line. This also has to be done in the correct voice/accent.

"It's an invasion army." (Obi-Wan in Episode I)

"I want you to hit me as hard as you can"

and

"You and what army?"

are my most common ones
