I had braces for 3 years. Big mistake, i was glad i finally got rid of them.

i still have them behind my teeth but they don't bother me. I don't have to go too the Dentist for those.

I also had braces that you see on the outside too wear at night. Never put them in though. I did that one time and woke up with the worst tooth ache ever.

You forget how painful it was having them put on and removed, plus all the mouth ache. I was very lucky, six months removable brace, six months fixed, and currently on retainer at night to keep them in place. I love my smile!

I never had them. Although when I was in middle school, all of my friends had them, so I wanted them.
I'm glad I didn't need them though.

Sure.. my braces gafve me a "great smile", but my orthodontist something like... forgot to put my teeth molds into a jaw simulator. Now my jaw is royally screwed up. You can't tell, but if I yawn or something big my jaw pops to the left about 1cm. It's dumb. And now I'm going to get TMJ when I get old.

The worst thing when they fit them was having your mouth stretched for 45mins whislt a little tube sucks out your spit and the evil orthadontist blasts your mouth with air! The feeling is intensely nasty!!

And when they take them off *cue south african/belgian accent that I can barely understand* "Now Ruth, this is not going to hurt. The cracking you hear will be the glue cracking as I use these giant pliers to pull your braces off." *CRACK!* ARRGGHH!!!
Then he uses a little drill thing to "polish" your teeth Felt more like he was trying to file my teeth into points.

I had them 8th grade and the very beginning of my freshmen year in high school. They were kinda annoying, but not too bad. I still have to wear a retainer at night though, but that isn't too bad.
