Jesus Christ.
(man, i'm gonna be flamed by this)
But also the person who wrote the bible, who tought up the Church, the pope, the cardinals, the crusaders, Tomas de Torquemada.
And then i'm just talking about the christian heretics (because h, who wants too talk about other religions right?).
You can also ask Repulican_man, he is a christian. give him a glass of milk and He will tell you all about the crazy stuff the christians did out of faith and in the name of jesus. |
Torquemada didn't write the Bible. The Bible is a compiling, made by ROMAN PRIEST leaders in the early hundreds, of stories by Apostles, etc. And Torquemada didn't think of the Chuch, the Pope, and the Cardinals, nor the Crusade. Did he start a Crusade? Yes, the Inquisition. But all those things? LEARN SOME FACTS. Don't blabbe LIES, nor be IGNORANT on this situation. |
No, no ,no. Those where 6 people i mentioned. Not only Tomas de Torquemada as if he did al those things.
i better read before you start blabbe hatefull *beep* towards someone.
I should have put "And" on the spot between the crusaders and Tomas de Torquemada. |
Whatever

I didn't say I thought he knew it all. But I'm sure he would be well informed about the spanish inquisition being that it is probably part of his culture and stuff. |
The Inquisition? Part of our CULTURE? What? I haven't been taught it in the Church or anywhere besides public school. It is NOT part of our culture. It's part of our HISTORY, and a dark one at that.
lionhead wrote: | IntrepidIsMe wrote: | I'm sure you all mean it in the following way: that's he's so smart, he just knows it all. |
No, he is a christian. In a very extreme way. I had some heated discussions with him about the vatican and stuff, it goes really deep with him. |
Extreme way? What. No, that's not true. That does not make him EXTREME. Both you and zero have made some pretty ignorant comments right there.

1. Saying it was "part of the culture" is somewhat ignorant, but I highly doubt it was meant cruelly. That's like saying naziism was a part of German culture. And in some way, it is. (I am German, nobody kill me, kay?)
2. Why does saying "Extreme" Christian sound bad to you? I consider myself an extreme Christian. "It goes very deep with him" isn't a horrid remark to hear.
3. As he said, it was a list of people worth mentioning. I happen to be very interested in how the bible was compiled, and I'm more than aware that it took a number of people to do so.
Please, people, don't turn this into a heated argument. It's just talking about history of certain religions; just because people are mentioning tenative pasts of the church is not call to lose it. I don't believe anyone here has meant wrong by their words. However, you are free to think so if you like. I will forget about getting help from you people altogether if it's going to turn into a yelling fest. (This indicating the past 3 posts) I just wanted a few names, a few incidents. It's rather distracting to get that while muddling through cursing and sarcastic remarks.
Thank you. |
Whatever
In NO WAY are the Crusades part of "Catholic culture." That was an IDIOTIC statement, not to mention an IGNORANT one. Did he mean it in a bad way? Maybe not, but that's irrelivent.
And you should have EXPECTED that this would become a heated argument. You know how some people feel about Catholics, Catholicism, etc here

1. It doesn't always start arguments, and you should not BAN it. It would be not right to BAN it, but people who start topics should CONSIDER the effects that would come from it.
2. Yeah, o...kay?

What? I'm sorry, my capitalization was meant like the Star Wars opening scroll--for emphasis that I'd prefer not to italicize, but not yelling. I was not yelling at you. Your thoughts on banning it are fine and somewhat justified, but you just can't ban religion. That's wrong. People should be worried about their actions when starting a thread, etc. Think: what reactions might come from this?

I don't believe that you meant it that way. You have attacked Catholics so many times that I wouldn't be amazed at you making an ignorant comment such as saying that Tomas de Torquemada (who ran the Spanish Inquisition) on purpose. But whatever. I could be wrong, but I know either way where this discussion will be going. It has gone here before. "Oh, Catholics did this, so..."

I wasn't trying to ban religion. Believing in something is part of human nature. I was thinking that maybe discussions here on religion shoudl be banned, but now I realise that's kinda dumb and facist.

Alright, Lionhead and Zero, I apologize for my comments there. I was angry, because that comment about the heretics being "part of our culture" was entirely ignorant, and that disgusted me, because it's NOT, and also the statements by Lionhead just got me angry. I see that accusing you of lying there, Lionhead, was wrong. Although I know how you feel about Catholics, etc, I shouldn't have made that judgement after you made the disclaimer. I apologize to Exalya for this, but I saw the approaching storm already here, and the comments by the people were just blah. NO MORE comments about it being "part of Catholic culture" and don't comment on Catholics today, etc, attacking them.
I'll bring this back to Exalya's purpose: only list some things, like the Crusades (Pope Ivan IV, etc), the Spanish Inquisition, the situations in Ireland, etc. Just list, and elaborate, with no opinions. And don't respond to it, either.
