sounds too much like cisco!! thus the name gives me the creeps now I wonder why they put a commander on there instead of a captain....you know for authority reasons....things that make you go hmmmm

Well you see through out startrek that the highest ranking officer on a starbase is a commander and on a starship it's captain. And obviousely Sisko was good enough to be promoted to captain.

He was eventually promoted to Captain. Commander's are generally the head of Starbases. Thats why they put a commander.

Not really. I think you're too used to TNG and VOY where there ALWAYS has to be a Captain. There are some starships that only have a commander and no captain.

He was a commander when he took command of the ds9 and gradutate became captain of along time.
