Thu Mar 31, 2005 7:58 pm Question.... |
|
Why does everyone hate and blame Berman & Braga for what they have done for enterprise?
Berman worked on DS9 & Voyager & Nemisis, not just enterprise and he did a damn good job of it. Braga worked on Voyager also.
Also Levar burton directed alot of episodes of DS9, he also has directed alot of episodes of Enterprise.
So why does everyone blame these people? Or does everyone just simply think that they are burnt out from working on startrek for so long?

Well they are proud of the fact that they no very little Star Trek history. Which shows when they made ENT. We dislike them because they are the ones who make the chocies that go into ENT. The choices that ruin the ST timeline.

You know i was enterpise over and over again. and they don't screw up the timeline. Yes occassionally they do. but every startrek series is guilty of doing that.
I think that the fans are just too stubborn for their own good.

Every Star Trek series is not guilty of doing that. At least not to the degree that ENT is. Everything else can be explained. How can you explain the Klingon first contact discrepency? I don't consider the Borg or Ferengi episodes too bad. The Klingons thing is unexplainable.

It was never made clear when Humans made first contact with Klingons. That was never specified and even from TOS we know that klingons around that time were more advanced than humans.
With the borg. It was more of a fun episode like voyagers "Threshold" But in enterprise they didn't find out that they were called borg and in that episode they mention that Zefram cocrane had breifly mentioned them which was from first contact becuase enterprise is in the timeline which was altered after the events of ST: FC took place. Plus we know that the Borg were speculation at the time when the enterprise-D encountered it's first cube. So they werent completely unknown.
As for the ferangi yes i see where everyones coming from but the enteprise came across one of their ships. They don't even known where there homeworld is or even what it's called.

Like I said, the Borg and Ferengi episodes are ok. Even if they had to slightly alter the timeline, but nothing drastic.
For the Klingons, its not a matter of when they met but how. Picard stated in an episode of TNG that the Prime Directive, or a part of it was made because of first contact with the Klingons going BADLY. It resulted in decades of war. The episode First Contact, not the movie, explained this. So far there has been no war.

Its pretty good.
Don't get me wrong. I LIKE ENT. The actors are great. The graphics are amazing and the episodes where they don't screw up the timeline is awesome. The Temporal Cold War? Really cool idea. Its just fans get annoyed with the MANY inconsistencies.

Well you're right. I noticed som discrepencys in TNG, DS9, and VOY. But they were never on a MAJOR scale. You got to admit the Klingon thing is way too big to ignore.

I see where your all coming from. Yes some of the things they have done are wrong but as chakotay1988 so what. To me StarTrek is StarTrek. I enjoy even the fact that it's still around and what it's accoplished.
But yes i do blame mainly the fans for whats happened to enterprise. They should have seen the bigger picture. Now because of this cancellation people have lost some respect for StarTrek, it has become less popular and it is now less likely that we will see a new series anytime soon and that it will have a nice budget.

Well, we can thank Many Coto for trying to undo some of the damage caused by B&B, like the Vulcan trilogy and Romulan trilogy. It's too bad they didn't recruit real help until it was too late.
