PostThu Mar 17, 2005 1:23 am    Hannibal Lecter Trilogy

I just got done watching Red Dragon. I've seen Silence of the Lambs and will probably watch Hannibal tomorrow. I was surprised with both RD and SotL... I gues I thought SotL would be a lot freakier and it wasn't. So I went into watching RD with the thought that it wouldn't be too bad either, but I really think it was a lot creepier than SotL. As for Hannibal, I got the book when I was probably...14 and read the first 2 chapters before I was done being creeped out. Is Hannibal the worst of the trilogy? What are your opinions?

I've only seen Silence of the Lambs, and all I have to say is: The book is soooo much better, even the Red Dragon book looks better.

'Hannibal' is definitly better than 'Red Dragon' becasue Hannibal Lecter is out of prison in that one. Hannibal is great being a loose psychopath in Paris (or was it rome?).

Too bad Jodie forster doesn't play Clarice Starling, but Julliane Moore is a good one too.

'Silence of the Lambs' is still the best one though.

I saw them in the order SOTL- Hannibal - Red dragon But I thought they were good anyway. I liked SOTL the best, after that red dragon, hannibal as last one. Just because they don't follow the book in the last movie, I didn't like that.

I read "Silence of the Lambs" last year. It's an amazing book, and the movie is great, too. I wouldn't classify it as horror, so I don't think it's really meant to scare you. More of a psych thriller. I've read "Red Dragon" as well, but I haven't seen the movie. "Hannibal" is next.

I just finished the trilogy with Hannibal last night and though the gore kind of aspect of Hannibal was very well crafted to gross and creep you out, I'll have to say that my favorite of all of them is Red Dragon. I don't know, that one just gave me the creeps a little more than the others. But they're all very good, I'm disappointed that I waited so long to watch them.

- I hated Brian Cox's Lecter, I think Edward Norton totally ripped off Petersen's portrayal of Graham. Petersen makes this movie shine, is the far better Graham.

Interesting enough main actor from L&O (Dennis Farina) and the main actor from CSI (William Petersen) star in this flick.

Yeah I thought hthat Silence of the Lambs was the best movie, followed by Red Dragon. I thought the Hannibal movie wasn't that good because of the gore. I thought it was too much "shock value." But I do agree, the Silence of the Lambs as a book was so much better. Red Dragon was good too, the serial killer is even freakier in the book. I never read Hannibal though, due to what I heard about the ending which they changed for the movie since so many people didn't like the original book's ending. That was a huge reason why Jodie Foster decided not to play in that movie, because they had originally wanted the book's ending, but decided to change it but it was too late because they had already cast Julianne Moore in the part. I really like Jodie Foster though.

In my oppinion HANNIBAL (the movie) is the worst of all 4 Lecter movies. I even read all the books, so I liek the series even though I dislike Hannibal (the movie).

Manhunter I like a lot because it was set at a slower pace and I think the actors did a great job. Both Petersen, Farina, Cox & Noonan delivered some great performances.

Silence of the lambs is still the best one however, but I think the way Hannibal escaped is a bit lame. Everyone in this movie do amazing jobs. Hopkins, Foster, Glenn & Levine were great.

Hannibal was a terrible movie. They went completely overboard and both the movie as well as the book completely loose it when portraying Hannibal Lecter. It seems like he is completely impossible to defeat and all he needs is the red cape in order to fly. Hannibal is definately a character that works better when behind bars or walls of unbreakable glass. Also Julianne Moore never worked for me.

Red Dragon was ok, but I never believed in Norton, even though he is one of my favourite actors, as Graham. Petersen did a better job as Graham as he seemed more like the tired, experienced and tough detective. Watson as always did a great job but the movie seemed to Hollywoodish if you know what I mean.
