Ok... I just watched this for the first time in a while with my friends last night. And we had that "what would have happened if things happened a little differently" discussions throughout... here's what I was wondering.

Start from the beginning. You know when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are on the Trade Federation control ship and they're trying to get on to the bridge? All of a sudden *phesw!* "Master, destroyers!" *pshew! phsew!* (those are the lasers) "They're shield generators!" there's this shot from down the hall a bit and you see Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon dart off the screen in this ultra-fast Jedi run.
Now...
Cut to the Duel of the Fates battle on Naboo. *bam!* Obi-Wan is kicked off the catwalk and Qui-Gon and Darth Maul continue in the battle. Obi-Wan finally gets himself up and watches them fight for a moment before *woosh* Jedi-boosting himself up onto the upper catwalk before going into a very seemingly leisurely jog down the catwalk to catch up with them. And of course *shut shut shut shut* cut off from the battle because he isn't quick enough. And we all know what happens next.
So...
What happened to the ultra-Jedi run that happened at the beginning of the movie? If Obi-Wan wasn't being dumb and just watching them fight for a second before jumping up and then starting his leisurely run, he would have been able to help Qui-Gon in the battle and together, they would have killed Darth Maul and Qui-Gon would have lived... THUS... bringing us to the real question...

Do you think things would have turned out the same way with Anakin had Qui-Gon been his master instead of Obi-Wan?

(that was so nerdy )

I've heard this question several times and there a few answers. What happened to the Jedi Force Run? Well you have to understand that using the Force is exuasting. It is extremly difficult. Think of it like the games where they run out of mana. Same thing. They have to stop and rest. Obi Wan had just finished doing the Force Jumo to get up to the balcony. He was already exausted from the fight, being smacked around, and on top of that he had just finished Force Jumping. He probably didn't have any more left in him. You also have to remember that was a VERY narrow catwalk. If he had miscalculated the speed and angle, he would have a long time to think about it on the way down. You also have to remember there were forcefields up ahead. He may have ran right into them and died a painful death. Im pretty sure the novel says it was fatal to the touch. We see an ex. of the force use tiring you out in Ep.2 Yoda uses basically relies on the force to give him strength to fight Dooku. After Dooku runs awa he quickly grabs his cane and leans on it. Obi Wan is also a Padawan at this point. He was probably the best Padawan ever. How many other padawans can boast that they killed a Sith Lord. Obi Wan=Best Jedi ever. So cut him some slack.

The real question is would Anakin have fallen had he been trained by Qui-Gon Jinn?

No one can really no the answer to this. Although I believe he still would have. If anything, he would have fallen faster. Qui-Gon was very rebellious to the Jedi Order, but loyal. That was the difference between him being a Jedi or a Sith. Those qualities would have rubbed off on Anakin and on top of that Palpatine would still be whispering in his ears. He would have become a Sith earlier probably. I hate when people blame Obi Wan for Anakin's fall. It was Anakin Skywalker's fault. Thats it. No one else. He made all the wrong choices. He was shown the right way but chose to take another path.

Yeah, I think of Anakin sometimes as a high school dropout.

Founder is right. It cannot really be answered. I would have to say yes, simply because the events that would unfold would still lead to a generally same outcome. Clone Wars, Palpatine's influence, etc...
